Triboy, since you like Mickey and the D-League so much, you should strongly consider getting season tickets to the Red Claws next year. You'll be able to have a front row seat for all his games and then you could come and tell us how awesome he is.

you are not objective my friend.  Just a dreamer that thinks 1st year rookies should be able to hang with NBA vets. Some can, most can't

Considering how mediocre Marcus Smart is offensively and how much Stevens still plays him because of his defense, I think it's pretty safe to say that if Mickey was really the defensive game changer some on this board think he is, he'd be getting minutes (particularly with how the front court is probably the weak spot on this team).

But Triboy, wasn't it you that said he just needed a chance? You said that all year long before he actually received minutes. Then, he got minutes and didn't do anything with them. Now you're changing your tune to the bolded above. Which, by the way, happens to contradict what you said about Stevens not playing rookies and favoring vets like Zeller. So which one is it?

CBS like Ainge values strength alot.

I don't think its everything (looking around the league and seeing some less than strong rookies getting min and making an impact). But their call of course. Next season or even as we speak Mickey is working at his body

devon booker just made mince meat of our best defenders-some of us ex players do not know how to judge big men post moves-amir johnson looks terrible but puts the ball in the basket from odd angles with stiff posture
sabonis footwork is just brillian at college level, mickey looks quite awkward sometimes and has some strange way releasing some of his shots
-last year zeller with his flip hooks was like automatic and 16-18ft almost like a foul shot-his offense was super efficient
-i haven't seen a flip hook like he took last year or him consistently hit his outside shot-i feel sorry for zeller something messed up his head-

That's not really true either: see Isaiah Thomas and Kelly Olynyk.

It's really just when the sum of all a player has to offer is a net positive, the player plays. Jordan Mickey isn't there yet, but it certainly doesn't mean he won't be there sometime soon.

I just think this notion that Stevens (or Doc for that matter) won't play young players is ridiculous. Both played rookies and most (if not all) of the youngsters that posters on this board pined for ended up being unworthy of the minutes posters thought they deserved.

TP. I don't think its that big of a surprise to anyone that I agree wholeheartedly with everything you just said.

Blocked shots create offense.

IT is a strong kid. Forget 5'9.  Even the suns announcers mentioned his strength

KO 1st year got mins here and there. But when he got pushed/had to foul, he was benched.

2nd year came in slimmer but still not strong enough. More mins provided but still some games did not play or play much

this yeah KO came conditioned and also added strength. You can see that he is not pushed around like the last few season. Thus getting more mins

Mickey has good weight for his size (235-240) but needs to add 10-15 more pounds , up to the pt it doesn't hamper his athleticism.    Bc just being 6'8, he needs to workout that much harder this offseason to get ready to battle taller/heavier PFs

I'm sure he will. He wants to play. He knows what it takes to get min

Mickey can score. Very nice mid range jump shot. The FT% are a concern. If we lose Sully he will get minutes next year, and we shall see what he can do.

4 blocks per game is nothing to sneeze at. His offensive have will be much better than Biyombo.

You do stick your neck out for him too much and I like Mickey. He shot .669% career Ft in college and .646% his last year far from good.

He looks to be improving, I hope so, he's got good form on his jumper.
