You do stick your neck out for him too much and I like Mickey. He shot .669% career Ft in college and .646% his last year far from good.

He looks to be improving, I hope so, he's got good form on his jumper.

players can improve right?

He is shooting FTs at 74 percent in the Dleague.  He is 70 for 94.  Not a small sample. And last time I checked all the lines/distance to the basket are the same in the NBDL as it is in the NBA

He also went 1-14 in 3s in college (2 years)

In the NBDL this year he is 7-20 (35 percent)

And no I don't stick my neck out for him.  I see a good player that will make his impact sooner than later. Unlike eddie20 who has hate and lists all the negatives but none of the positives

I saw what I needed to see from him vs Kentucky .  Pre draft games.  SL.  NBDL. Short sample in the NBA.   Next season he will help out

Just to get an idea of why Mickey's D league scoring numbers shouldn't matter. Here are the scoring averages of other second picks and non-drafted players who are also offensively challenged.

Harrell 24.3
Wood 17.3
Mickey 17.3
Alexander 15.0 (only 4 games due to injury)
Ashley 14.8
Christmas 14.0

Focusing on D League scoring averages is silly.  His efficiency numbers are pretty good, although even those don't mean much.  Watching video though, you see an ability to put the ball on the floor and attack, as well as hitting a spot up mid range jumper and occasional 3.  It's not consistent, but it's there.  The free throw % is also solid, which is an encouraging sign.  He just needs experience and reps.

D League was good for him this year.  Hopefully he'll get minutes next year with the Celts to continue the growth and be a contributor.

I could see him fulfilling a role similar to Leon Powe, although hopefully with better knees. Not saying he is a similar player--he's not-- but I see his level of value to the team eventually being in that area. Which would be awesome, given where he was drafted.
