Why should DA win Exec of the Year for things he did last year, i.e. sign Turner and trade for Crowder and Thomas?
I give Stevens a lot more credit for how the team has fared than to Danny. I think Danny was just putting together assets, Brad turned them into a team.
Yes. He should win Exec of the Year for the Crowder and Thomas trades of last year. Those trades were amazing in their net return for the team. They might win 50 games because of those 2 players.
Signing Lamarcus Aldrdige, while a great signing, is really not that complicated or brilliant of a move. Any team with the space would have loved to have him on the squad.
At least we know Hinkie is not winning it.
The award makes no sense if we're going to give it to GMs on the basis of moves they made over a year ago. Flies in the face of the whole "Executive of the YEAR" concept.
Signing Amir Johnson was a fine enough move, as it has helped the team solidify itself as a playoff squad this year. That, along with drafting a few guys who haven't broken the rotation this season, is not worthy of Exec of the Year.
Olshey made bold moves last summer. They were widely derided at the time, and now his team is most likely going to make the playoffs. He deserves the award.
I agree with you re: LMA. Signing a major free agent requires making an effective pitch to the guy, for sure, and that deserves recognition. It's not like RC Buford had nothing to do with that. Still, I respect what Olshey has done this year more.
