Who votes for Exec of the Year?

Olshey should definitely get consideration, but I don't know if he's under the radar. I think other execs would definitely appreciate the moves he's made in a way that others might not.

  • Peace it's a board. We all will never agree.
Why should DA win Exec of the Year for things he did last year, i.e. sign Turner and trade for Crowder and Thomas?

I give Stevens a lot more credit for how the team has fared than to Danny.  I think Danny was just putting together assets, Brad turned them into a team.
Brad for Coach of the year. Neil Olshey Portland should get exec fro keeping his team where they are.

Best Exec in the NBA, imo.   Do they make posters of executives?  I want a Danny Ainge GM poster on my wall.  Not young player Ainge... I want old man Ainge in a business suit.

No one is trying to join an upstart 7 seed people aren't sure are for real. This year we have proven that we are in fact for real.

Regular season for real, definitely.  I think free agents care most about how you do in the playoffs, though.

"great job with limited resources"

Huh.  Ainge has been the GM for years, if he has limited resources it is because he gave himself limited resources.

I would guess that the executive of the year will come from the Raptors, Spurs, Mavericks, or Pistons.

I should clarify - I meant that we are not a team that can attract big name free agents
says who?

C's haven't had the financial cap room to go after top FAs.  we'll see how he does this offseason but there's only a few top FA's and there's a serious debate as to which ones we should bother pursuing regardless of financial ability to do so.
They had the $ this offseason that passed and struck out. Ended up with AJ.
Boston didn't have max contract space though.  Not anywhere near the dollars to attract a max contract player.  And only one such player actually switched teams, Aldridge.
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner

I really hope that the Blazers don't get it.  They messed up the personnel for the most part, it's just that Lillard and McCollum are randomly that good.  The rest of their team is D-League level and I don't think anyone else is even averaging 10 points.

It's extremely likely though that the C's perform better in the playoffs this year than last year. So my point about them having a better pitch this year compared to last year, still stands.

though to be fair, CBS did not hire himself. but i agree with you basic point that this year is not danny's best so far. he has done well, but not exec of the year well.

They lost 4 starters from last year, replaced a number of them with forward-thinking bargain contracts (considering the rising cap), finished barely above the salary floor (took on Varejao for a 1st rounder), and yet are still in the mix for a playoff spot.

The playoffs are a different game, and we haven't seen this group win a single playoff game yet.  I wouldn't wager on what is "extremely likely" as far as that goes.

The Raptors won 48 games two years ago, got beaten in 7 by the Nets.  Last year, they won 49 games, swept by the Wizards.

I'm really eager to find out how this team will do in the playoffs.

You need to watch the Blazers more often.

If not ainge, I'd vote flip Saunders.  They are on the verge of a dynasty.

They had max $ before extending Crowder and JJ.
