Coach Cal just went off on this kid. Calls a timeout and comes over pointing his finger and swearing at him for not stopping the pick and roll. Felt bad for the kid. One of the Kentucky players had to step between them.

Overall he seems pretty soft. Probably why Calaprari lit into him.

The positives are he is extremely quick for his size, has a nice outside touch and very long.

He clearly doesn't fit Calaprari's system but he does have legit skills. Just very soft.

I am starting to despise Coach Cal. He himself is reaping the benefits of coaching for the "Name Brand" school. Every single season, he is bombarded with top level talent to use at his disposal. Arguably more top talent than an average NBA team(meaning high lottery picks). What I see from him is an actual inability to adapt to his players, and opts to pidgin-hole his players into certain roles that he recycles from year to year. The guy is purely spoiled with talent.
I feel bad for Skal, he should have went to a better system, somewhere where a stretch 4 can thrive, and not have to play the 5. If he doesn't declare for the draft this season, he should transfer.

Willis is doing pretty well as a stretch 4, I don't think it's the system.  Skal just looks lost out there.  It might not be Calipari's fault.

I can't imagine him declaring, the way things are going.

If he returns to Kentucky and does badly again, he may not even be a first round pick next year.

Better to come out now. Take the money.

I still like his upside. He is having a tough year. Should still go top 10.

He's very raw and soft. Would definitely benifit from staying one more year and maybe bulk up a bit during the summer.
Jack of all trades, master of none.

I may still take him over Bender (Re: other thread).

But seriously, I wouldn't mind him with the Mavs pick. The guy has skills and athleticism, but he needs somebody to help him put it all together. I agree, though, that he should come out this year. Another performance like this in his sophomore year and it is over. Right now he still comes with P for Potential.

If we could get him with the Mavs pick I'd be thrilled. Who knows what's been going on between him and Cal, but in this shallow draft he still looks like a top-10 prospect to me. It's just way easier to get excited about him than someone like Diamond Stone.

and only a few months ago some predictions had him at #1 or 2. i expect a number of players to rise and fall over the next few months. it is still to early to predict how the draft will play out.

case in point is montrezl harrel. last year, draftexpress had him at # 7 or 8 at one point. he fell to # 32, second round. looney too. early glory followed by an amazing drop.
I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

I don't ever remember him that high on any draft boards. I do remember Looney much higher but he got injured.

  • I left Indiana. Because it was horrible.
Damian Jones ate his lunch on Saturday. He may have potential, but he doesn't seem to have the toughness or basketball IQ to be a reliable player in the league.
CB Draft Bucks: Chris Paul, Dwight Howard, Tobias Harris, Zach LaVine, Aaron Afflalo, Jeff Green, Donatas Motiejunas, Jarrett Jack, Frank Kaminsky, Lance Stephenson, JaVale McGee, Shane Larkin, Nick Young

DKC Bucks. Also terrible.

I've gone to a few KY games this season. Skal is SOFT both physically and mentally. He makes KO and Zeller look like physically imposing unstoppable objects. He doesn't seem particularly interested in rebounding, or playing anywhere within 20 feet of the hoop. The kid is made of tissue paper and falls over in a strong breeze.

That said, his jumper is nice, and if he ever put on some weight and learned a killer attitude, he might become something special. I'd take him at 15. Not at 5.
My biases, in order of fervor:
Pro:
Smart, Brown, Hayward, Tatum, Kemba, Grant Williams, Sleepy Williams, Edwards!

Anti:
Kanter, Semi, Theis, Poierier
