I've gone to a few KY games this season. Skal is SOFT both physically and mentally. He makes KO and Zeller look like physically imposing unstoppable objects. He doesn't seem particularly interested in rebounding, or playing anywhere within 20 feet of the hoop. The kid is made of tissue paper and falls over in a strong breeze.

That said, his jumper is nice, and if he ever put on some weight and learned a killer attitude, he might become something special. I'd take him at 15. Not at 5.

What have you thought of Ulis and Murray? Ulis seems to be such a skilled player, and having IT has shown me that size is overrated. I think he's going to make it in this league.
Isaiah, you were lightning in a bottle.

This kid is not ready for the NBA, he is too weak for college, and he will be too weak for the pros.

Would you really take him over Denzel Valentine if he's still on the board? I just couldn't. It could easily be another Fab Melo over Draymond Green pick.

Ullis and Murray are both good/not great players. If Murray had Ullis' raw skill, drive, and talent, or Ullis had Murray's measurables and silky smooth shot, either would be a top 5 player in the draft. Unfortunately, I wouldn't be excited to pick either of them with the BRK pick. I see them going 10-20 most years. It's a testament to the weakness of the draft that ESPN's big board has Murray going 8th.
My biases, in order of fervor:
Pro:
Smart, Brown, Hayward, Tatum, Kemba, Grant Williams, Sleepy Williams, Edwards!

Anti:
Kanter, Semi, Theis, Poierier

Way to make this hard for me. Personally, I love guys like Valentine who are locked in mentally and work their ass off. I would love to have Valentine on this team.

That said, we need a 7 foot center with outrageous upside more than we need another 6'5 jack of all trades shooting guard. IF Skal hits (I think he'll bust) he's potentially the kind of talent that can transform a basketball team. Skal is huge risk, huge reward, and I think that with Brad Stevens his play will improve and with Marcus Smart his mentality will improve. I think the Celtics have the right system and personnel to get the most out of Skal.

He could be the steal of the draft, or he could be Fab Melo 2.0. I think we are in a position where we gotta swing for the fences.

I surely wouldn't take him with the nets pick. If he slides to either our pick or Dallas pick, sure, might as well.
I could very well see the Hawks... starting Taurean Prince at the 3, who is already better than Crowder, imo.

you vs. the guy she tells you not to worry about

I would definitely scout Skal long and hard and work him out rigorously against some stiff competition before determining if someone that appeared to be so soft in a college basketball season, could toughen up enough to be able to play against pros.

His scouting tapes will be filled full of bad stuff. He is going to have to show he is better than the way his coach utilized him in college.

If he's there with our third pick in the first round, why not?  If we're talking about the Nets pick, there's no way you take him over Poeltl.

  • Celtic's only raise championship Banners
I'd rather us take a project type big like : Jeanne or Thomas Bryant.....if they enter the draft.

I cant believe the dislike and names being thrown to draft over Lab. This is crazy. The guy is going to be a decent to great Pro. He isn't suited for college center or center at all. But he should absolutely go top 10. Too much upside to pass on him.

Just saw that Lab is posting good numbers today and turned the game on.

Has anyone seen the beginning? Has Lab played as well as his numbers show in the stat sheet?

Been watching the whole game and Skal looks great. He's money from 15-18 feet. He's nailed three jumpers, a righty jump-hook, been active on the boards, and all three of his blocks were impressive. The talent is clearly there.

He was very comfortable shooting that beautiful jump shot today. Great form, high release, and he jumps high on his jumper. Very hard to block ala KG.

He's still very soft In all other areas, but has the tools to get better.

Thx for the run down. TP

Looks like Kentucky is starting to integrate him more in the offense.

On defense, he doesn't always get into the best positioning but his quickness and length is impressive.
