According to the herald the mystery team was 76ers and okafor.

Yep, saw that. I'm glad Philly backed out.

I would have liked it. I don't like the media though.  They have us getting all these aging overhyped guys and don't know much about basketball. The C's should be targetting guys that are about to hit it big. Jabari, Okafor, Giannis etc.  I like these guys b etter than the current crop.  These guys are right there with any pick we can get and farther along.  Howard, Horford, Blake have maxed out their potential.

Building young and a dynasty that way with smart contracts and adding a player like that to this group can go far.

I thought Jahlil Okafor hated Boston after that one incident he had lol

Pass on this chump. I'd much prefer Karl-Anthony Towns!

Thought it was a star from a playoff level team. That is what was talked about on radio and DA said playoff team made it unexpected.

Man, imagine if that trade went through though.

76ers would have potentially have like two first round top 5 picks of the 2016 draft...

Since when is Okafor a "superstar"? Isn't that what Danny said in the interview?

This was probably a separate deal and not one that Danny was referring to specifically. Also, I wonder what the package was that was denied.

Isn't the bigger story that the Sixers turned down the Brooklyn pick for Okafor.
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner

Wow, that is horrible news, if true. Okafor? Superstar? Nahhh. No. No, no, no. I don't believe it. Maybe the Celtics front office didn't like the Butler info getting out there and planted this as a smokescreen. That's what I'm hoping. Because targeting Okafor would shake my faith in Ainge's judgment. I mean, unless it didn't involve a Nets pick, which is doubtful. Anyway, I sincerely hope this is not set up to be revisited in the summer, and am very happy it didn't happen yesterday.

I don't think so. They need to consolidate assets, so I don't really blame them for turning down Okafor for the Brooklyn pick, especially not knowing where it will be.

I'd like to see what else was offered, though.

Okafor may be the best player we can land via trade, and I'm sure DA wasn't fleecing himself with the offer.

And he already knows he can get into the local bars.

We talked about it weeks ago.  If you wouldn't trade smart for the Suns unprotected pick, you should understand why ainge was willing to give up the Brooklyn pick for Okafor.  Worse pick and better prospect.  Totally logical.  Also makes sense why Philly is deciding to wait until summer.  Pick is too risky.   I wonder what else we were including with the Brooklyn pick.  Probably one of the young guards.
