Danny just said on Toucher and Rich that an unnamed team pulled out at the last minute from a deal that would have brought in a superstar. Said a large package was offered and that they deliberated for two days before the other team called it off.

Yeah, I think it was Love. Either way it underscores the potential for an off season trade.

If we are able to trade for love or Griffin it can only help our pitch for Horford.

I heard the entire interview and I don't think Danny was talking about Horford here. He specifically referred to laying the groundwork for trade talks to be revisited later (referencing the KG trade); with Horford being a FA, he wouldn't need to talk to the team again later. He didn't give any details other than mentioning that it was a big package. I think he was talking about Griffin, but that's just my own idle speculation.

Yea, I don't think of Horford as a superstar.  Love is a borderline one ( at least in his minny days)  Blake is a superstar.  23/10 in the middle of his athletic prime.  If the C's get top three in the lottery I have a feeling the Clippers will be making that pick...

have to think it's a player under contract for at least next year so based on the names floated around recently that would suggest either Love or Griffin.  then again, based on Danny's track record, it could have been someone else no one would have suspected.

For Danny, a "superstar" is a top10 / top15 guy (he said that a couple of days ago).
Definitely not horford.

It's near impossible to take stars from teams that think they are trying to win a title in the same year your trying to get them.

Have wait for star kinda stuck in a situation that is not contending or on a upswing....or one wanting out for what ever reason.

I thought the most interesting tidbit was that Danny said they didn't even get to look at Poryzingis last year because of their draft position.

What do you think? Was Danny saying that given the opportunity, he would have pushed harder for the #4, and taken Poryzingis over Winslow?

Or is he playing Captain Retrospect?

I kind of feel like he is saying that because we can look at everyone in the draft this year, that he will not miss the next Pory if we don't have a top 3 pick.
