Nothing
embiid's injury in particular.
Man that guy is going to be a monster. It's probably better for his long-term career that they convinced him to get a bone graft. He could have played this season, but the bone graft will make it less likely for him to re-injure himself. Buy stock in embiid. I never sold mine. Some re-draft rankings have him not even being selected in the 1st round. It's pretty funny. He's probably going to be the centerpiece of that team next year. I listened to a podcast with Bill Simmons and Charles Barkley the other day. Barkley thinks philly has a shot to make the playoffs next year with embiid. Lol
TP
lots of good information on Embiid.
I don't know if he will ever play at the NBA, but
if he ever does, his ceiling is really high.
I also like Hinkie's approach.
Noel, Embiid, Okafor, a ****load of picks in the coming year, and all these Euros waiting to come to the NBA. All that at the price of
not getting eliminated in the first round of the playoffs for a couple of years. ofc it can easily all go down in flames, but IMO the risk was worth taking.
What Hinkie does, if successful, could transform the role of the GM in the NBA.
Having said this, I don't think this approach would have suited Boston and I do not suggest we should have gone down that path: we had a very different set of assets in our hands back in 2013, a different (may I say
better?) franchise culture and history, and a wider fanbase to rely on.
tl;dr still avoiding to discuss what I was wrong about.
