How so? I dont want to pay sully Long term. Jones can do every last bit of what Sully does IMO.
Turner isnt a long term answer, and we all know Lee is washed up. those 1st round pick are all in the teens or 20s.

If im Houston, im not even sure i stay on the line.  I just want to know how everyone feels.

Elaborate on your answer...

You're giving a lot of value to a malcontent on a one year contract who's minutes are being monitored, is not playing back to backs, etc.

In essence, we'd be doing the same mistake we laughed at that the Lakers did.

He has a player option next year too, which can limit our options next year.

You don't want to pay Sullinger $15 MM a year? But do you want to pay Dwight Howard $30 MM a year when he opts out at the end of the season. Unless we can get Dwight to opt into his contract next year we would be paying 2 firsts plus the t wolves seconds for a rental.

I'm completely in for giving up Turner, Lee and Sully but we can't give up more than one first if we are only renting him for the rest of the season.

Jones has the same contract situation as Sully - what is the point of swapping them unless you think Jones is a major upgrade?

Assuming Sully/Jones is a fair swap, we're dealing three 1st rounders so we can pay Howard $23M next year and then he's a free agent... or he opts out and all we can do is offer Jones + Howard big contracts?

that $23 MM you mentioned us paying is essentially a player option (ETO), so we could easily be paying 3 first rounders to watch him walk this summer.

I say no.

Houston has no leverage to the Dwight situation. He could just leave by next year, so we don't have to offer three first round picks for him. I'd also would not want to trade Evan Turner. He has been a good off the bench, extra ball handler for us, I'd like for him to stay.

David Lee, Jared Sullinger, Tyler Zeller, a 1st round pick for 2016 that's not Brooklyn's (let Houston choose), a 2016 2nd round pick (we have plenty) for Dwight. That's as good a package that they will not get anywhere else.

I think that's a good enough deal to pry Howard, assuming we want him. Because BudCeltic is right, this might end up just being a rental and he might destroy the locker room with his antics.

actually, tbh with you, I don't mind that trade

assume Dwight is just in a bad situation and in the wrong system, if we can get him for that package, I'd might do that

assuming our own pick this year is outside the lottery because we'll make playoffs. If the Mav's make playoffs this year as well (currently at 5), then both those picks are outside the lotto. The Twolves pick is conditional I believe

so you're really looking at 2 mid 1st rounders, Sully (personally for me, I am worried about his health in the long term), Lee (who hasn't produced much), and Turner for both Howard and Jones who can produce. A star and a hustle guy

Smart/Bradley/Crowder/Kelly/Dwight

IT/Terry (or RJ or Young)/Jerebko/Jones/Amir/Zeller

Dwight instantly improves our defense overall by being that rim protector we needed and given a lot of matchups, not many teams can really stop Dwight inside

Jones is another guy I like...another hustle guy who plays his ass off! much like Crowder but bigger.

Defensive lineup you have

Smart/Bradley/Crowder/Jones (or Amir)/Dwight

Haven't seen anything to suggest this a possibility but consider how Howard reportedly wants out and Miami reportedly is interested in trading for him. Is there any chance we can sneak in with our Brooklyn pick and get Justice Winslow similar to what Phoenix did last year acquiring Brandon Knight?

We have a cluttered roster. They have someone we need who they might like to trade. They would probably want Amir Johnson. Maybe Amir, Zeller and the Dallas pick?

I agree on second thought that Turner should be off-limits. Or where's Phil Pressey when you need him? But no, I'm kidding on Pressey, but maybe not.

I agree it's good for Danny that they are the ones with Dwight Howard's future up in the air to make it a less costly deal.

I'd like to see this trade happen. Both teams would want the trade to produce immediate wins.

The only way this happens is if both teams win or Boston coughs up a Brooklyn pick. Our guys are good, not great. Dwight Howard deserves some respect.

Howard isn't worth 3 picks anymore.  He's a dog.  One of the most selfish guys I've ever seen.  He's a quitter.  I'm not sure if I would even want him here.  Loser.

Before we should try to answer that question, we need to answer whether or not we would want to sign Howard to a long term contract at about $30 million per year which will be the max next season.  I say no because of his age, declining play, health issues and attitude.  He would improve our team this season, but we still won't be contenders and it would hurt the future of the team.

I have no problem trading away Lee, Turner, and Sully and picks for a younger guy that will fit in long term.
Howard has a lot of milage, and a history of injuries, plus he's not exactly known to be a gamer. He's past it.
This smells of desperation. NO

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
I'd do this trade if Danny had spoken to Howard's agent and they knew that Howard would re-sign with us as a FA. I think giving Howard something like 22.5 million x 2 years would be an okay deal...that's 25% of our cap and still leaves us room for another major FA/max plys some $15-18 million guy if needed. especially now that he's 30 and will start declining rapidly....
I also don't want Terrence Jones because I'm pretty sure he's a restricted free agent this offseason like Sully and he's going to get some big offers. Although he's a good young player.
If there weren't any assurances that Howard would re-sign, then I'd still do it but just for our own 2016 pick +Wolves pick/s+ Lee+ Jerebko.

I'd gamble on using 25% of our cap on Howard-He's still got some life left in him and while he often acts like a child, he still wants to win and is playing harder than anyone on that Houston team right now.
My god can you imagine a line up of
Smart
Bradley
Crowder
Amir
Howard

on defense?
