If the pick is top three I keep it unless you are scoring a top 10 player.

As for your last statement, I entirely agree. There is no sense whatsoever in moving the BKYN pick for someone who is merely "good" or "above average". If that pick is our prime available resource, we need to turn it in to something great or hold on to it.

You're holding out for the MVP? For one pick??!??

Where in the bloody hell does my post say I'm holding out for the MVP with one pick? We're talking about Klay Thompson, not Stephen Curry.

I'm sorry to pick on you, but I really think you have a weird perspective. Paul George made the all-NBA third team at age 22 and 23. The players at his position on team 1 and 2 were Lebron James and Kevin Durant.

Are you really saying that George isn't worth our pick because he's "excellent" but not "great".... based on the fact that when he was 22 he couldn't leapfrog the GOAT and the MVP in their primes???

Again... a pick... a pick that has a 10-25% chance of coming up #1...

I think you have reading comprehension issues. Go back and read my post again because I really said that I would use the pick in a package to acquire George. I just wouldn't use it to acquire someone like Klay Thompson.

LOL.

Oh my god, dude.

I'm sorry.

No worries and TP amigo.

I did add one sentence at the end of the second paragraph to make it clearer because I can see where it got a wee bit confusing.
Jaylen Brown will be an All Star in the next 5 years.

Well anyways, I'm glad we're all sensible, intelligent folks around here. (myself excluded)

My gut says keep pick,

However I know that if a player like George or Cousins can be had DA makes the move.

guys I might be willing to trade it for , that could be had for the Brooklyn pick

Giannis
Bradley Beal
Cousins (though I am not a huge fan )
Nurkic
Damian Lillard

*Don't see that pick landing us a Durant or George , but these players may be able to be had for the Brooklyn pick in a package

  • I'm a Paul Heyman guy.
If it will net (PUN ABSOLUTELY INTENDED) us Ben Simmons, I'm keeping it.

Otherwise, I'd be open to all possibilities. I like the Jusuf Nurkic idea. I think that kid's basement is atleast 14/7, and he can still grow and learn, especially how to play defense. I'd be willing to trade that pick for him if we are not in line to get Ben Simmons.
2019 CStrong Historical Draft 2000s OKC Thunder.
PG: Jrue Holiday / Isaiah Thomas / Larry Hughes
SG: Paul George / Aaron McKie / Bradley Beal
SF: Paul Pierce / Tayshaun Prince / Brian Scalabrine
PF: LaMarcus Aldridge / Shareef Abdur-Raheem / Ben Simmons
C: Jermaine O'neal / Ben Wallace

Idk, it is so heavily dependent on who's available for what package to give a good answer.

If the Brooklyn pick looks like a more or less guaranteed top 5 pick, I'd only move it for a very short list of guys, and it would involve a package around that pick. Besides Durant/LeBron/Davis if consider moving it for...

DeMarcus Cousins
Westbrook
Paul George
James Harden
Curry
I'd think about it for guys like Kawhi, John Wall, etc.

If your talking about a draft night trade though, if it's #1 or #5 matters. If you trade at the deadline, you run the risk of it landing at 1, just like the other team runs a risk of it landing at 8 or 9.

Nope, I'm keeping the pick even over Paul George. And this is coming from someone that would love to have pg 13 on our team.

But give me a top 3 pick on a rookie salary, especially with the cap about to hit 100 plus million per year and plenty of money to spend.

We still have the bk 2017 and 2018 picks amongst a bunch of others which will have value to make a trade later on.

Sullinger, turner, zeller, lee, amir and jerebko are either free agents to be, or non guaranteed. We still need a top 5 pick type talent to add to this rebuild.

Ainge won't trade that bk pick at the deadline. If anything its draft night, and even so I doubt it.

I suppose it's also contingent on how Danny feels about this year's draft class. Is/are there transcendent player(s) in his opinion. If not, maybe he's more likely to deal.

Yes there are like Ben Simmons.

But it is like any other draft, it's too early right now and we need to see how the college season developes.

The current top talents though are all sf, pf and centers.  Which are all positions we need an infusion of elite young talent in.

If the pick fall to number 2 couldn't see using it on Skal Laberiesse(sp?) .Think he's a tremendous talent but we need more of a heady player at PF/C who can keep the ball moving.

Could use it.on Jaylen Brown maybe but this would be a scenario where I could see trading the pick.

Trade it for any of the following:

Cousins
LBJ
Durant (sign and trade)
Steph Curry
Kawaii Leonard
and maybe Noel (if Philly sends a pick back)

Otherwise, keep it and draft Simmons, Brown, Ingram, Bender, or Laberiesse
My biases, in order of fervor:
Pro:
Smart, Brown, Hayward, Tatum, Kemba, Grant Williams, Sleepy Williams, Edwards!

Anti:
Kanter, Semi, Theis, Poierier
