I would 100% trade it for Paul George but the Pacers are never trading Paul George. Literally they would not trade Paul George unless Lebron, Anthony Davis, James Harden, Blake Griffin, Steph Curry or Kevin Durant were coming back in the trade.
I think PG is a top 10 player and I would trade the Brooklyn pick for a top 10 player.
I wouldn't trade the pick for any All star either etg I wouldn't trade it for someone like Klay Thompson- would rather gamble on picking the next top 10 NBA player with the Nets pick.
Never say never.
First, let's not overrate George. He certainly is a very good player. He's an excellent player. But he's never even made the 2nd string All-NBA team. He's had 20 ppg in a season once. His best finish for the NBA MVP award is 9th. I'm not so sure that puts him in the top 10 in the NBA, especially coming off that injury.
Second, what happens if Indy sucks this year? They're already 0-2. What happens if they're headed for a 20 win season? At some point they may just throw in the towel, take picks and some young guys and start again. That's when we can use the BKYN pick and other assets to acquire George.
As for your last statement, I entirely agree. There is no sense whatsoever in moving the BKYN pick for someone who is merely "good" or "above average". If that pick is our prime available resource, we need to turn it in to something great or hold on to it.
