Phoenix are 2-2 in their last 4. They have Memphis next, which is probably a loss. But then they have the Knicks and Nuggets.

Can I believe?

Sure, why not.  But, I wouldn't bet on it.  Hoping Minny holds' em off.  I expect the Nets to tie Minny over the next 4 games, but after that Minny will pull away with 2 vs. the Suns, 2 vs. Sacto, 2 vs. Utah, and home games vs. Houston and New Orleans.  They should be able to win 4-5 more games.   I see the Nets winning 4 more total ... so tonight's game was HUGE!

I am glad to see this tonight (the rest for Lopez and Young). I think we can get so caught up in looking at this from a Celtics fans perspective that it is easy to lose track of the big picture. For example, while the nets don't have incentive to lose games, they do have incentive to give minutes to their young players to see if any of them are keepers. This includes, Bogs, Larkin, Robinson, Mcollogh etc. I think even if Jack had been healthy his minutes would have gone down and Johnson would still have been bought out. The draft pick for them is a sunk cost and playing guys like Lopez and Thad every single game doesn't help them do anything but try to spite the Celtics. I don't think this new ownership group (if the old one even didn) care about spiting the celtics.

And just like that, Suns win, Wolves Win, Nets Lose, we're back in business for that #3 slot and further from 5.

T freakin P Mr JSD. Well said.

Shocker, the Nets follow some nerve-racking wins with a relieving and crucial loss. That's because they're a bad team, and losing games just as one is gaining momentum is characteristic of a bad team.

This team WILL hand us a bottom 5 pick, at least heading into the lottery. What was true about a month back remains true today: BKN will realistically be the 4th worst team, but could be the 3rd or 5th worst team. I don't see their pick falling any lower than 5th heading into the lottery.

Draft: 8 first rounders in next 5 years.

Cap space: $24 mil.

Nothing has changed since RHJ went down. They were on track for 22 wins back then in December and they're on track for 23 wins now.
What sucks for us is if they'd lost a truly significant player like Thad or Lopez, we'd be right there with the Lakers and 76ers fighting for a top 3 pick.

Let's hope that Sean Marks has some influence and asks the coach to rest their two best trade assets some more as their pointless dumpster fire season comes to a stinky, fiery end.

Kind of annoying that they are playing better now that Joe Johnson isn't on the roster anymore. I expected them to be a lot worse, but Bogdanovic has filled the shoes of JJ very well so far.

It's simply because of their schedule.

They've won 6 of their last 13 games but the teams they beat were:

Denver twice (7th worst team in NBA)
New York (9th worst and 1 win ahead of Denver)
Sacramento (8th worst etc)
Philly (worst team in NBA)
Phoenix (3rd worst team in NBA)
Utah (okay team, but still 9th in the West and only 29 wins)

Not exactly the creme de la creme of NBA teams and they got incredibly lucky in both Denver wins and the Utah win.

Don't worry, they still suck  8)

And to illustrate just how easy their schedule was over the last 13 games, they also lost to the Sixers, Lakers, and the TWolves in that same 13 game stretch. Those teams are the worst, second worse and 5th worse teams in the league.

The Nets were bound to win some games in that stretch.

I agree, and do expect them to care less about spiting the Celts now that the old management crew is gone.

Do we want the Lakers to defeat the Warriors, who have a legitimate chance at NBA history, for the sake of getting the Nets closer to a better pick?
I could very well see the Hawks... starting Taurean Prince at the 3, who is already better than Crowder, imo.

you vs. the guy she tells you not to worry about
