I don't find it surprising at all. Minnesota's best players are all under 22. Sorry but super young teams don't win in this league, no matter how talented. Anyone thinking. Minny was going to vie for a playoff spot was just fooling themselves
Yeah, despite being able to put up big counting stats, you just cannot expect two soph's (Wiggins & Levine) and a rook (Towns) to carry a team to a playoff spot. That just does not happen. I'll never understand why people think otherwise.
Rubio is the only playoff worthy rotation player in his prime on that team. Rubio isn't leading anyone to the playoffs. He's much improved, but he's your 4th best starter, ideally.
But in a few years, Towns/Wiggins/Levine looks like an excellent foundation that should be competing for a title, so long as the franchise surrounds them with the right complementary talent. Minny has a poor track record here, but maybe they've turned the corner in that regard.
