i watch the red claws play a lot. i can recognize d-league-level talent when i see it. some guys just jack up a ton of shots and put up numbers, but don't make good decisions, don't play defense, and don't make their teammates better.

RJ is a different animal. he impacts the game. and while he missed a lot of shots, those will start to fall.

he has multiple  skills, and he looks like he has a high BB IQ, and solid athleticism too. there's good reason to be optimistic about him.

I ask this with complete sincerity: are the people who get excited about summer league every year new fans or are they the same people every year?

I'm truly curious to know.

Just like Rozier, I don't think Hunter will be a full-time D-Leaguer. He'll get the James Young/Gigi Datome minutes from last year (assuming Turner isn't traded) and may even get a bit more if he can play the 3 given our lack of depth on the wing.

Great words from a great man

A player who can shoot threes like RJ Hunter and also have a great feel for the game will have a role on this team.

Very nice work!  Thank you.  James Harden only ranked 25th and 28th, but is a star in the league.  It's a little scary to see Hunter's efficiency is just below Marshon Brooks.  But wait does this mean that Glen Rice Jr is going to be a beast in the NBA?

I guess the bottom line is that the SL is more like an appetizer.
We need to the main course -- IE NBA play to determine Hunter's true worth.

Still it was fun to see Hunter's skills on display.  I still feel he has amazing shooting range.  If he turns into a JJ Redick 2.0 he would be well worth the 28th pick.

"Pourtout: Hunter has been compared to Thompson among current players but doesn’t have the physical size or defensive capabilities yet to make this analysis work. Hunter’s game is similar to that of Korver and Redick, two men who struggled initially defending their position in the NBA before developing into competent defenders while becoming top perimeter shooters in the league."
