And for extra bonus points, you can show us how those players turned out statistically in the NBA, obviously that will exclude the current rookie class but it would be interesting to see.

There's no good way to differentiate between SG and PG on BKR, unfortunately, but this should do the trick for the extra bonus points section with some of your own legwork:

The problem with this thread is that Summer League is not about stats.

Summer league is about how a player moves, and if you can see flashes of what a player can do.

Oh I see... So the 140+ players (42 of which were undrafted semi-pros) who outperformed Hunter did so while not moving or showing flashes?  Got it.

If those players failed the eye test it's because you weren't watching them. That's the point.

Awww, you sound upset. Again, why are you acting like people are saying RJ Hunter is a future all star. I think I've seen like 10 people overrate him on this forum.

Can you please explain your reddit post? It had like 8 comments on it. Clearly you don't respond to my posts because I'm right, but it would be nice to see you actually try to counter.

The basic jist I got so far is, if the celtics don't draft in a hof, the player sucks. Got it.
Not sure what you're talking about with the reddit post.  I mentioned that the front post on Reddit's Celtic subreddit at the time of me creating this thread was comparing RJ Hunter to Klay Thompson... obviously that wasn't a post I made.

Ok I'm hereby challenging LarBrd33's info gathering skills!

Can you straight up compare RJ Hunter to all the other SGs drafted in the 1st round in the past 5 years and show us how his stats stack up in the SL?  And by this I mean primary position SG like Hunter.  That should give us a better idea.

And for extra bonus points, you can show us how those players turned out statistically in the NBA, obviously that will exclude the current rookie class but it would be interesting to see.
Just saw this.  Eating lunch right now, but give me a few minutes and I'll put something together.

There are notable names listed below him.   For instance, his performance was better than Ben McLemore's rookie summer league and OJ Mayo's rookie summer league.  Reason for optimism there.   Plenty of names above him that didn't pan out.  Again, this is all just a convoluted way of saying you shouldn't read too much into SL performances and hold your horses before comparing Hunter to Klay Thompson (who btw was #3 on the list).

NOTE:  This is only showing shooting guards with draft info.  There were hundreds upon hundreds of undrafted players who had greater summerleague performances than RJ Hunter over the past 5 years.

That was impressive!!

I can't even find a complete, collated list of summer league stats for 2015.

That's my point. If one person compares him to klay Thompson, does that mean so does everyone else? You are acting like everyone is saying hunter is a future all star when in fact you have no basis to back it up. That's my point. All I'm saying is most people will be happy if the dude is a role player. So not sure where you are going with your post.

That took you a minute and a half?!!

I think Pho's gif is probably accurate then.

Here's an entire thread called "The Case for Starting RJ Hunter" - http://forums.celticsblog.com/index.php?topic=79973.0

Btw, my intention isn't to all-out bash RJ Hunter.   He might indeed have a really impressive career.  I sure hope so.  My point is more that we should put his "impressive" summer league performance into context before jumping to conclusions.   I hadn't seen anyone try to do a comparative analysis to Hunter's 12 points (34% shooting) in comparison to other summer league participants.

That took me about 8.5 minutes, because I had to cut and paste from separate years, filter and sort.

You do realize that the exact same data with a better intro and title would have you got a lot more TPs and a more meaningful debate, don't you?

Oh well.

Btw, out of something like 1600 Summer league performances since 2008, RJ Hunter's performance this year didn't crack the top 800.

Greatest performance since 2008:  Anthony Randolph.   So take that for what it's worth.

Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.
