Seems like all the mocking and jeering is coming from the other side in this thread.

Just sayin', the martyr complex seems a little misplaced here. ¯\_(*-*)_/¯

Nice graphic.  What does it mean?

I take back the martyr thing.  I'm still looking forward to watching RJ Hunter play in his rookie season, though, despite the warnings that he could be stuck deep on the bench or in the D League.

I think most are prepared for that possibility.

The Shrug?

Just think of it like this:

Usually there's a bit more of an obvious face but CB doesn't like that symbol (I think it's Chinese?), makes it a little more clear.

Well, the Nazi is definitely more politically correct that the Chinaman.

It was the second gif on a google search for "shrug gif"

Also, Dude, chinaman is not the preferred nomenclature. Asian-American, please.

I think he thought you meant that Celticsblog would be offended by the Chinese symbol, rather than that the board itself doesn't have the functionality for using Asian-language symbols.

Also, what's offensive about Christoph Waltz, I ask you?  What?

To be fair, at least one of those guys was drafted (Glen Rice) and many of them were not rookies, playing significant games in the DLeague last year (like Appling) or even some games in the NBA (Kilpatrick).
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner

I watched every summer league game and stats aside RJ is the real deal. He is calm and has a high IQ and we know he can shoot. The kid knew who he was passing to before he ever got the ball most of the time.  If he were an athletic freak he would have been a lottery pick. As it stands his success will depend greatly on having bigs whom can help account for his defense. He isnt bad on defense but he isnt great either.  He is alert and aware on D though.

The problem with this thread is that Summer League is not about stats.

Summer league is about how a player moves, and if you can see flashes of what a player can do.

RJ has sick range, and will likely be our best 3 point shooter in a couple of years. He also showed good defense and good passing.

The stats literally mean nothing, Summer League is all about the eye test and RJ passes the eye test hands down.

Oh I see... So the 140+ players (42 of which were undrafted semi-pros) who outperformed Hunter did so while not moving or showing flashes?  Got it.

If those players failed the eye test it's because you weren't watching them. That's the point.

The thing about "moving" and "flashes" is that it's really easy to see what we want to see in the way a guy plays.

We go in trying to see similarities between our young guy and an established player in the league, and unsurprisingly we find some comparison to make that feels good.

Thanks Pho for acknowledging the point of this thread.  Jordan Mickey was actually one of the 30 best performers in summer league this year.  Kid was surprisingly productive and it's enough that even I am a bit intrigued. When I met Brian scalabrine a few weeks ago, he went out of his way to mention Jordan Mickey... And perhaps Mickey will indeed end up being a special find.  But there's a pretty thin line between what Mickey did out there and what khem birch did in summer league.  I guess this thread is a somewhat convoluted way of saying what most of us already know... Take summer league with a grain of salt.  But I still think it's interesting to see the names.  If any one of those guys (khem birch for instance) put up those stats for the Celtic summer league team we would have no trouble praising his movement and flashes.

I've always thought tons of people were high on Khem Birch's potential.
