We needed Shooting, a Defensive presence that was  at least 6'8", veteran leadership.

Amir and Mickey are nice additions, Hunter can shoot it and we did need another penetrater.
Although unorthodox I think he did the job overall.

Well, in the playoffs it was most obvious our front court needed help, so by adding Amir & DLee I'd have to agree with OP.

I thought team needed a defender/rebounder 6'10 or taller. Better shooting from SF spot.

I myself wish the team was tanking instead of bringing AJ and Lee.

You don't want to tank now. Ainge got the second best player in the draft to this point in Smart at number 6. Only Wiggins looks better.
This year time will tell but we did well, multiple picks next few years. We are on great shape.

We got slightly better at least. More importantly we kept our flexibility and improved our asset collection.

Yes I do and C's could of had Smart, Young, Winslow and Simmons to build on. This year will be another wasted one in the rebuild. IT and Turner will never let Smart be the man.

Needed better rebounding as well. Lee & Amir provide it. Amir gives us a defensive force inside that hasn't been seen for awhile. Very nice additions by Ainge.

I think he did a helluva job personally. Underrated now by everyone because they wanted Love, Jordan, Lamarcus, etc.

He nailed the draft. All he had to do was go 1 for 4. I think he did better than that when its all said and done.

Going with the "did his best" group.

At the beginning of the offseason I thought our priorities were:
1) Star - current or with high potential to be
2) Defensive big man
3) Wing scoring

1) was obviously the hardest and apart from Monroe and Harris, there weren't really any realistic targets. Before that he tried his best to turn quantity to quality in the draft and was Mj'd.

To me Amir is a valuable two-way player and addresses 2) without being a hole on offense. Also a great person who will fit the locker room nicely. Mickey has the potential to cover 2) in time too.

3) is the tricky one. I did not see a dynamic scoring FA on the market, other than Harris. He tried with him and failed. I think there is some hope Crowder will step up his shooting. Then there are the youngsters. Smart could grow offensively, Bradley can still step up his 3p shooting, etc...

Overall, I can't help be a little disappointed, but I am sure this will be a fun team to root for and that is what matters to me personally.
"We do so many defensive drills in practice, I come home and I'm putting the press on my woman, denying her the ball.
Y'all are laughing, but it's sad. I go home and deny the wing."

He did the best he could regarding the availability of the players in the market.
And most importantly he didn't jeopardize his flexibility and can change almost the entire roster in a season if he needs to. The players are either in rookie scale, cheap or expiring contracts. That is brilliant to come up with such versatility sport wise while staying flexible with cap space.
My only regret is that he couldn't find a good 3 & D guy on friendly contract. Unless we manage to keep PJ3 and he stays healthy.

Did the best he could. If the reported 4 first to CHA was true, it proves you can't do what should be a win/win deal with stupid sitting across the table. I've seen that in the real world too, so you do the best you can (and he did) and wait for the next opportunity. If Winslow was the target, I'm happier not making the deal, but there's so much BS around the draft that who knows the real story.

Amir isn't a rim protector according to many Raptor fans I've talked to. Hey said he's a plus team defender though, but he's still stop short. Neither of our two major needs were addressed, I'm disappointed in the FA signings but I like the Mickey and Hunter picks.

I found this article on Amir pretty interesting.  Supposedly  he is one of the better pick setters.

This was 2 years ago but his +/- in games was very good.  Shooting percentages are up when Amir is in the game.

Getting rid of Wallace and Bass was BIG ....

What he subtracted is as important as additions.

Adding Hunter and Lee are strong editions .....of winners ......people who know the game.

Too bad ET couldn't be waved .....sold ..traded ....given away ......oh well ......maybe this will be our XMAS present .......moving ET off the team .

Here's another article that isn't as glowing. Kind of an exit article from teh raptors.  But maybe the raptors just aren't utilizing him as much.   We are trying to get to that level and having a guy like Amir might help our guys get to that level.

http://www.raptorshq.com/2015/6/15/8776663/raptors-player-review-amir-johnson-young-veteran

All I know is if we want to be a pick and roll team having guys that do the dirty work is going to important.
