I still don't understand why the Celtics drafted Rozier.

Sorry, but I just don't get it.

Easy to see. Very nice game already at 21 years of age, and can immediately defend. When you can attack the paint and get anywhere you want with that speed and athleticism, you'll be able to get off any shot you'd like in this league.

Just takes time. Keep the development going.

Sure, why not.

I've got nothing to do for the next 5-10 years.

Why, who would YOU have drafted at #16?

Just curious so that we can keep an eye on their progress and see if they can become a contribute in the league before Rozier.

Me personally, I would've drafted Bobby Portis. I think he would've been a great pick up for this team and I am not just saying that because he had a good summer league game.

I think he's going to be a good player.

Plus, we already have 3 point guards.

Soooooo......why draft a 4th?

Hate summer league lol. They both look good right now, lets see how preseason treats them.

I think Porter is soft, he has a puppy dog face, he will be meat to the vets of the NBA and they will eat him alive.

ET ...will be traded ....he really needs to go.

Rozier and Hunter both better ceiling than AB

Rozier is way ahead of where AB was at his freshman Celtics years......way way ahead.

AB has .....very poor ..handles .....he is either helping the team or shooting them into a hole

Get out of my head!!!
I've been waiting for AB and Turner to be packaged since the 1st summer league game  ended....Add a 1st and we could find the missing link....No not Gheorge Muresan....

Hunter just needs to work on his shot selection. Some shots are JR Smith-esque

I'll say it until he proves me otherwise, Rozier OVERRATED.  I actually watched a bit of Cardinal basketball and Rozier never jumped off the screen to me.  He could prove me wrong, but so far not even that impressed with him in the d-league.

Hunter just a gut feeling he's going to be a J.J. Redick at best but could also be a Jimmer Fredette and be a great shooter but just can't make it.

How can you say that a guy who got drafted in the middle of the first round, after projecting to go late first round, is overrated? Especially when said player is an elite athlete who can score and defend.

As for Hunter, I don't get this comparison - he's nothing like Reddick.  Reddick never had the tools (at 6'4" with a short wingspan and limited athleticism) to be a good defensive player.

Hunter has excellent size for a SG (6'6" with a 6'10" wingspan) and decent (if not outstanding) athleticism, which gives him pretty good defensive potential.  i see him being able to defend positions 1-3 with little trouble.  The potential to become a 2-way player does (IMHO) make him a very different player to Reddick.  If Hunter can put on muscle mass he has impressive potential.
Except for the fact that Redick is an excellent defensive player...

I'm more shocked if it can't been seen.  You find a way to get this man minutes or as a team you're doing yourself a disservice.

So where does he fit into the roster, opening night?

I think trades will happen to clear up the guard log jam.   AB/Turner come to mind here.

Rozier will get minutes off the bench but he will eventually earn his place in the starting lineup to complete the Rozier & Smart back court,  their strength's  playoff too nicely for this not to happen.

I'm in the same boat with Rozier. While he's looked pretty good in the summer league, he doesn't do anything that stands out. He's short so he's PG size but not really a PG, and doesn't shoot great. There's a bunch of other guys Danny could have taken that will be better and would have filled their needs.

I'm becoming a fan of Hunter. The way this kid shoots I could see him stepping in right way for some minutes. The kid is instant offense.

Holmes left him hanging out to dry a few times by passing the ball to Hunter with less than 3 seconds on the shot lcock. Hunter had no choice but to shoot those and in really crappy position.

I do remember one really bad shot selection Hunter had, though. Double covered in the corner with just about no space and he still threw it up.

Overall there's A LOT to like about Hunter, though. He has great range, a fast shot, good vision and high BBIQ.

I think Rozier is really hurting by not having anyone capable of setting up picks on our summer league roster. Rozier has showed ability to score from all over the place and get to the line though, which is nice.

I think he's also adapting to life after college where he isn't 2-3x more athletic than just about everyone else out on the court. He had 2-3 plays last night where he tried to make a mad dash down the court only to have someone slide in front of him right as he got into the paint.

I agree.  I think a trade is coming to thin out the backcourt and that ultimately are starting backcourt of the future may very well be Smart and Rozier.  They're looking like they'd put the opposing backcourt through defensive hell and cut down on the drives to the hoop from the perimeter.

I get the confusion/concern with picking Rozier over someone like Portis (thought for sure we'd take him) but so far this summer Rozier is showing he's got some NBA skills.  I wouldn't expect much this year but I think if he continues to develop, AB and Turner become strong trade bait at the deadline.

Unless a good deal comes along, we can just decrease Turners role as PG on O as the season goes on and give Smart and Rozier bigger roles if they earn them.

Rozier I just think is overrated to where he was taken, as I said he never jumped off the screen.  Yes, he's a defensive minded point guard, which he's not even truly a point guard, an undersized guard.  Just because he's athletic doesn't mean he can't be overrated.

I didn't say J.J. Riddick was a bad thing.  He can be a pure scorer which is what Hunter was in college, a shooter.  All you said is potential, any player has the ability to have potential.  Just because he has size, doesn't mean he will.  You're argument is also using the weird IF he does something.

I agree with you Bobby Portis is a steal for the Bulls.  We should have drafted him or I would have liked Justin Anderson to give us an actually young small forward who can shoot.

justin anderson fits the bill-did you see rj rebounding  those long arms reminded me of prince-he has about 3months to build up his legs and core and do defensive drills
he should move close to waltham and eat in the northend-
