Won't really help the Nets out this year. Next year it might give them more flexibility. Depends of Lopez stays healthy enough to be a lure. I think it's the right thing for the Nets -- take their medicine for a year, clear the books, and try again next year.Just saw that it's $27.5 mil. I wonder if there's an option to spread that over five years, or they simply stay with the two years.Money from DAL lessens that cap hit each year by $5 mil. So it looks like the Nets may have slashed around $13 mil or so off this year's cap situation? It is reported to be stretched over 5 seasons so the cap hit each season is only 5.5mil. The Nets are apparently under the luxury tax now. Wow. So with DAL paying Williams $5 mil for each of the next two seasons, the Nets basically erased that deal from their books for this year and next.$43 mil just vanished off the Nets books.

The reason why they waived Williams was so that they didn't have to trade Johnson so they could get under the tax. Johnson was the only one of the two who actually had some trade value. Not that it matters. JJ is going on 35 and is on the decline. JJ or no JJ, the Nets are a Lopez injury from giving the Celtics a top 10 pick. The Nets are going to be real bad the next two seasons. What a heist by Ainge, I says it's probable the C's get a top 8 pick, with a outside shot at top 3 if things break their way. The 17 draft will be special. Giles, Smith, Thon and Tatum etc...It's a loaded class.NASTY! The ball handling and athleticism is insane when you consider he's a 6-10/230 PF. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=me1LjwDQXfM

wow, those picks are gaining value by the day... hopefully the next shoe to drop is joe johnosn getting dumped as well.IF cousins becomes available, suddenly we have a much nicer and more immediate platter of assets to offer in a trade.
There is a possibility we could end up with 3 lottery picks next year... we are no lock for playoffs

I do agree though as of right now there isn't much top talent, however start of next NCAA season things might change. There is a guard I like, but I think that we are set in that department.
