Ainge's Offer for the 9th Pick

Wouldn't we be happier to have Winslow in hand today as opposed to a handful of potential rotation players?

They didn't take Winslow.  They took Kaminsky.

I sincerely hope the people ripping Ainge for grabbing Rozier at #16 aren't also the people arguing that Frank Kaminsky is worth multiple first round picks.  Anyone want to bet $10 that when/if Kaminsky gets traded, Charlotte will be lucky to get even one first for him?

Yes, but clearly in their estimation Kaminsky was more valuable than Winslow.  The point is, they chose the quality talent over the quantity of picks.

Considering that my favorite team is in a purgatory defined by an abundance of quantity and a total dearth of quality, I cannot blame them.

It said up to 4 1sts and 6 picks, so probably:

The two firsts this year
Either our own or Dallas's pick next year (top 7 protected)
Minny pick (top 12 protrcted 1st in 2016, or 2016-2017 2nds)
And another second

Essentially that was this year's pick, the pick from Doc, the picks from Rondo, and another 2nd.  I can't fault Danny for not getting that trade done because Michael Jordan is crazy.  You know Cho wanted to pull the trigger.

It's only purgatory if you don't have flexibility. Do people even know what kind of draft picks Anige was offering?

This is something to be worried about with Ainge. Rarely does he ever make a trade and you think, 'wow, he really got screwed on that one.' It is almost always the opposite. Inexperienced gms (like Jordan) may just be afraid to trade with Ainge thinking they are going make a terrible blunder.

Winslow was clearly the choice at #9, but pretend we had the 9th pick and we were ready to take Kaminsky, would anybody here be all that upset that we trade the pick for four firsts and decent 2nd rounders? We would be hailing Ainge once again. Jordan obviously overthought this one.

People keep stating this like it is some fact that Rozier would have been available at 28.  It is not weird.  Danny Ainge rated him really highly, he was available, and he picked him.  There is nothing weird about that.
