Only if we get Russell would I be excited.
Russell doesn't do it for me.

seems like it's just me but I'm not seeing anyone really worth giving up a load of assets for in this draft other than Towns and he's not on the block.  I could see a move to get to 8-10 to get WCS, turner or johnson but those picks should have a much lower cost in assets.

I dont want to part with Smart at all, especially within the same conference. He would absolutely destroy our guards everytime we faced him.

That's what we've been telling you for the whole year, move on! Yet your infatuation and persistence with name dropping "Marcus Banks 2.0" has been undeterred.

Give him credit, he's persistent.  ;D

You still haven't told me why he isn't Banks 2.0. Hes Banks with a poor man TA's defense. Apparently I'm not the only one who thinks so since the Celtics are going to give him away to move up. Randle recently WOWED people in his workout in LA. I don't like saying the Lakers have a better future, it pains me. But Danny screwed up bad. It worked out even better that he missed all of last year too. Thats a good thing. It didn't hurt his value one bit and gave him an opportunity to really grow and adjust. He's going to have a better season than Banks 2.0. Better career too when Banks 2.0 plays with Banks 1.0 in China in 4 years.

They're only packaging Smart to get into the top 5 in order to make a play for Cousins. That I would think is the logical thinking here.

  • A true Celtic plays with heart.
Why do you people even compare him to Marcus Banks 2.0...

First off Banks wasn't drafted in the lottery, was a pointguard at the height of 6 feet. If we're being honest, Smart is at least 6'1 or 6'2. Banks is pretty small...

Also Banks didn't have the offensive versatility that Smart does...

I saw a thread and someone said Smart reminds him of Draymond Green.

That's exactly who Smart reminds me of.

A shorter verison of Draymond Green if he was a PG/SG.

While I would love to keep Smart, like Green, Smart would be the 2nd or 3rd best player. We're trying to move up into the lottery to bring in a guy that could be our best player off the bat.

If not, if we're going to get the 3rd pick, please package it for Cousins..

Oh and for the people lamenting Banks 2.0 being traded, maybe you shouldn't have supported that awful playoff run. The tankers were correct as we always have been. You cannot get a star in a middle market like Boston unless you tank hard.

If Celts want to move Smart, that should tell other teams what they really think of him.

Totally disagree with this.  You usually would trade a quality small for a quality big.  Plus Smart's the most valuable asset the team has right now.  He'd have to be a part of any deal moving you to the top.

So we should just hurriedly deal guys who aren't going to be franchise guys but could very well make an All-Star team for a guy that might have the potential to be a franchise guy?

Edit: ... but probably won't ever be, like Smart?

The same universe where he is still rated as a higher prospect in execs eyes than Banks 2.0 is. Its called reality. Randle is just a much better player overall. Can't teach his post moves or size.

Trading smart for a pick is a great idea...if that picks the 1st overall. Smart, Sullinger, #16, #28, and Brooklyns 2016 1st for Bennett and Karl Towns works for me...but we all know thats not happening.
