Whispers getting louder that the Celtics are willing to surrender prized guard Marcus Smart if it gets them in upper reaches of lottery

I don't doubt it.   I like Smart, but I was disappointed with him.  I'm not sure he'll ever be a viable offensive weapon in this league.   Obviously if you can get a big like Okafor, you do it.  You might even have to consider it if you love Russell or Mudiay.

I don't see how Smart + #9 (without further major assets being included) gets you to #3.

I'd much rather have the #3.

Well, yeah, if they're trying to get into the high lottery, he's quite seriously the only player on the roster who can accomplish that without having to throw a huge bundle of draft picks into the package.

As of now I'm only ok with it for the top 2 players and that's it

Only if we get Russell would I be excited.

I'm happy we made the playoffs, but honestly I'd rather just have had a full blown, shameless intentional tanking season like Philly if Danny wanted a high draft pick that badly.

Now we might surrender Smart?

Also disappointed in his playoffs performance?

Russell doesn't do it for me.

seems like it's just me but I'm not seeing anyone really worth giving up a load of assets for in this draft other than Towns and he's not on the block.  I could see a move to get to 8-10 to get WCS, turner or johnson but those picks should have a much lower cost in assets.

Source: Philadelphia 76ers called Boston Celtics about the rumored trade for the No. 3 pick. A "Godfather" offer was never made from Boston.

If Celts want to move Smart, that should tell other teams what they really think of him.

Great. This is Chauncey Billups all over again. Danny really has to save his Rick Pitino impersonation for draft day? Lame.

Finally! Danny admits his mistake with Marcus Banks 2.0 and moves him. Time to move on.

Well, it hasn't happened yet, and clearly someone from the Cs didn't leak this, so my guess is that someone is trying to make Danny sweat.

Draft: 8 first rounders in next 5 years.

Cap space: $24 mil.

That's what we've been telling you for the whole year, move on! Yet your infatuation and persistence with name dropping "Marcus Banks 2.0" has been undeterred.
