It was a lowball offer... they can spice up the pot with Sullinger or a BK pick

Do you guys really think trade offers are made by newspapers and message boards? So Philly leaked some trade rumor to an LA newspaper to set the expectations for trades? Why would't they just talk to teams and agents? C'mon.

That's just a disrespectful offer. Ainge is trying to erase his mistake in drafting Banks 2.0 last year by dealing him to one of the smartest front offices in the league. No one will take him for outside of a late 1st. The Celtics messed up bad in picking him over Randle.

Banks 2.0 actually played this year.

No one is saying that teams are exchanging trade offers via papers and message boards. (protip: they have each other's phone numbers). I suggest rereading what has been posted.

The takeaway here is that Smart very likely could be used to move up in the draft. I think he would have to be included in any deal for a pick in the 5-8 range.

I'm assuming you would add other pieces from their side? Trading a #6 pick plus anything else should get us better than the equivalent pick in an arguably weaker draft.

Sully AND a BK pick - I can't tell you how psyched I would be if this went down. Maybe it is just a smokescreen to make Sac think that the Cs are no longer interested in Cousins - possibly drum up more interest there (?)

I suggest that you.. well.. I'll get in trouble if I say it.

I'm just responding to the people who before thinking the article might be BS think oh is Philly setting the price. This just doesn't make sense. And, yeah, I know they have each others phone numbers, that was my point you JA.

I think Smart and 16 would get the Sixers thinking. And I don't think it'd really make a whole lot of sense for either team really.

We have the dumbest fans.

Ladies and gentlemen, the winner of CB's 2015 Brutally Ironic Post.

Anyway, people get mad at me every year for saying this, but it is the truth so I will repeat it again: it is not in a reporter's best interest to report on information that they know is false or to fabricate sources. That is not the same thing as saying "someone wrote about it so it must be true," or even "someone wrote about it so it is more likely true than false." The difference, apparently, eludes some of our more 'enlightened' members.

Whenever you examine any kind of rumor, you have to take into account who is delivering the rumor, and what kind of professional ramifications (if any) they would experience by doing so and it turned out to be wrong. For example, if a beatwriter is making things up about movements inside the NBA, that writer is unlikely to find willing sources if/when he or she is moved to write something truthful.

Someone posts info

Someone jokes (or makes an uninformed opinion) without offending anyone

Someone offends the heck out of that person

...

Sounds about right
