Denver isn't exactly in win-now mode, so I doubt they are looking to part with their lotto pick AND Ty Lawson. Wouldn't make any sense.
So, here's the best option for all teams -- considering that Sac is trying to rebuild on the fly, Denver is trying to get younger, high-ceiling type players, and the Celts trying to lure Boogie east.
Denver gets: AB, Sully, Wallace's expiring, 16 & 28
Sac gets: Lawson, Faried, Olynyk, 33, 45, 2016 BKL first, 2018 BKL first
Bos gets: Cousins, Landry
This way, both Sac & Denver get more out of the deal than they could dealing straight up with one another.
If you are Sac, why cut us out of the deal if in addition to Lawson & Faried, you can get those two BKL firsts? I also get the feeling that Karl covets Olynyk as a play-making 4 in his uptempo offense, so might as well get him too.
For Denver, it just doesn't work to trade for Cousins. They aren't close enough to contention, and their most prized prospect plays the same position (Nuric). Doing this deal, instead of accepting just the 6th pick, gives them a nice balance of solid players, cap relief, and two additional firsts in this draft ---- without giving up their 7th pick. That's quite a haul for two players that aren't fitting in...
I think Ainge gets this done. Reckon what we are hearing now about the Magic, Lakers, Denver et al. is the Sacramento smoke signal to Ainge about including both those BKL picks...
