You are all focusing of what would be the better deal for Sacramento, but totally ignore what Sacramento really wants.

I was just about to post this, so TP... did anyone actually read the article?!  The Kings stated that a top draft pick is not that enticing to them.  Instead, they want talented players back.  Therefore, the Lakers don't have as strong of a position as some are stating.

However, that doesn't necessarily mean we do either!  But I think we could really facilitate a 3-team trade as there are teams really looking to add cheap young depth, which we can provide (players & multiple #1's).  While the Lakers have the best singular pick to trade, we have a lot more of them so in the right situation we'd have the advantage.  For example we could offer 3 or 4 #1's and a trade exception for a veteran all-star, and then package that player with Bradley & Sullinger to Sacramento.

At this point I'm all for trading anyone not-named-Smart in a 3-team deal for Cousins.  I'm not saying Smart is untradeable, but if we had Cousins then I think Smart would compliment him well and give us the nucleus (and identity) we'd need to build around.

Except for the fact that the Lakers can very very easily trade #2 for "veterans" that the Queens would prefer.  If the Lakers want Cousins badly enough, nobody outside of the 76ers or Wolves are beating them in a bidding war.

Unless the Cavs call up and offer a package built around Kyrie Irving or something... and then LeBron signs his honeyboo to the MLE this summer to fill the need at guard.

Actually now that I think about it, there are plenty of teams that could offer all-stars for Cousins.

Boston isn't a player in this race, though.

This might sound stupid, but does Denver really want Cousins? From all indications, they're looking to take the Philly approach and bottom out, and after Lawson and Faried having attitude problems with the organization, I'm not sure they're ready to take on another perceived headcase. This is in addition to already having Nuric. So among the factors of him being a perceived headcase, looking to tank, and already having Nuric, I really think Denver is looking more for assets than someone like DMC.

If Karl truly wants to win (marking out Lakers) and wants some of his vets from Denver, perhaps we could be the takers of DMC and supply the rest of the moving parts to Sacramento and Denver, i.e. the picks, young talent (Sully, Young, etc.), matching contracts, and takers of a bad contract (Thompson).

Yeah you are right, if Sacremento are truly in win now mode, we can't offer anyone maybe IT3 that would entice them enough to part with Cousins. We are equipped to facilitate a rebuild.

However, our trade exemptions and draft picks could work as we could absorb Cousins contract allowing them to spend money in free agency.

Looking around the league now, what deal could make Sacramento a contender in the short term?

Even if they get the Lakers pick, Okafor isn't close to being an All Star for a couple of seasons and will at best be an average NBA defender, I don't see the "win now" trade unless the Clippers trade Blake Griffin for Boogie which is a stretch.

If they trade Boogie they are likely looking for a starting calibre PG and Center, I just don't see those deals out there, maybe Rubio and Pekovic? Its so tricky to even contemplate a '"win now'' trade for Cousins

Just like last year, I have a hunch this offseason will be an all too familiar feeling for good ol Danny Ainge:

If you think Randle and Clarkson have negative value, what would you give up for just #2, leaving the other pieces with the Lakers?  By your math, you should be willing to throw in assets that are worth 2/3 of Bradley/Sullinger/#16.

I would offer Bradley, Sully, #16, #28 and #45 in return for the #2 pick on it's own, if that were possible salary wise.

Why?

1) Sacrificing #16 is expected for any kind of jump in to the lottery anyway

2) #28 is not of huge value to us since it's unlikely to return a player who can contribute right now, and Boston are going in to 'win now' mode

3) #45 isn't worth anything really

4) Sully is likely to want to a max after his contract expires end of this season, and Ainge isn't likely to offer him that, so we need to try and get something back for him while we can (Lakers head office are stupid enough to give him a max contract probably)

5) I'd be sad to see Bradley go, but if we are getting a top 2 pick then we have a good chance of picking up a guy who will be better than him in the near future

Why the Lakers would agree?

1) Because Sullinger is a massive upgrade over Randle
2) Because Bradley is a massive upgrade over Clarkson
3) Because the Bradley & Sullinger combined probably adds more wins than Okafor on his own
4) Lakers are in a long rebuild, and you never know what #16 + #28 could bring in 2 years time

This is the time to open the war chest Danny!!!

These 2 trades offers Karl the type of team he wants to form a fast paced shooting team while freeing up tons of cap space to go after any free agent they want and gives them picks out the wazoo!!

Bos: Cousins/ stauskas
Sac: Bradley/ Zeller/ KO/ 2016 brk/ 2016 celtics unprotected/ 2016 dallas/ 2016 Min /Tons of second rounders/ babb/ pressey

Bos: Landry
Sac: Tayshaun prince TE

This trade gives us the #9 pick and Biyombo who will fill in nicely as a backup center

Bos:16/ 28/45
Cha: S&T Biyombo/ 9

#9= Payne or Johnson (I personally want Payne because I dont want IT starting and I think Young is a much better prospect than Johnson)

#33= Upshaw/ Christmas/ C. Alexander/ Gudiatis/ Johnson/ Harrisons? and Maybe Anderson slips (A high potential guy who will get better with his time in the D league

Pg: Payne/ IT
Sg: Smart/ Turner
Sf: Young/ Crowder/ Wallace
Pf: Sully/ Landry/ Alexander
C: Cousins/Biyombo

Also all trades worked on the trade machine

If the C's want in on this, they need to get Denver involved.  Maybe that was the point of the J Young articles this week?

BOS out: Bradley, Zeller, Sullinger, James Young, Evan Turner, Gerald Wallace, #16, #33, 2016 BRK 1st, 2016 DAL 1st, 2018 BRK 1st, 2016 MIN 1st, 2019 BOS 1st, 2016 PHI 2nd
BOS in: Cousins, Carl Landry

DEN out: Lawson and Faried
DEN in: James Young, Nik Stauskus, Jared Sullinger, Gerald Wallace, #16, #33, 2016 BRK 1st, 2016 MIN 1st, 2019 BOS 1st

SAC out: Cousins, Stauskus, Carl Landry
SAC in : Lawson, Faried, Zeller, Bradley and Turner, 2016 DAL 1st, 2016 PHI 2nd, 2018 BRK 1st

It's hard to not include Smart, but if we could it would have to be something like that.

Color me crazy, but with all the rumors centered around cap space for the C's, the reported interest of multiple FA's, Ainge fully endorsing IT as a recruiter, the secret workouts and now the Mannix "thinking big" thing. Something just tells me Ainge has something lined up that we just don't see. Most of DA's best deals are ones we don't see coming and my gut tells me they got something in the works here, I'm just not sure what.

IncarceratedBob is a moron, he is guessing.

If we miss out on Cousins I would be content getting Gay as a fallback option, he would be a great stretch 4 for us who also can play the 3 and is finally on an affordable contract.
2019 historical draft.  Pick 12

Tim Duncan, Oscar Robertson, Elgin Baylor, Scottie Pippen, Willis Reed, Mitch Richmond, Sam Jones, Dan Majerle, Bob Cousy, Rasheed Wallace, Shawn Kemp, Marcus Camby
