The other Rondo thing that bugs me is when people saying he is a bad defender. They are usually making reference to a quote taken out of context after he went to Dallas. He was talking about having to guard the other teams best guard and said he hasn't had to do that in years (due to teammate AB) and it was taken out of context to sound like RR said he hasn't tryd on D in years. Just silly but it gets repeated over and over and over. The not getting paid thing too. Sometimes if you just say something bad enough times people start to believe it.

I don't really want him back now, but because Smart has shown a lot. If things change I'd take him back and I'd always take him back down the line when he is older and looking for a smaller role.

His defensive effort with the C's definitely sucked. I watched every single game he played for us this season and it sucked. Big time. No excuses.

The fact that people here think there's even a 1% possibility that Rondo comes back is laughable.  It blows my mind that people are still holding out hope that he comes back.

Why would you want him back?

He actually would make a good change-of-pace PG off the bench, for about 15-20 mins a night.

Yeah...I don't care about the defense quote, or his benching in Dallas, or the playoff share, etc, etc,....I know what I saw and he did not play well defensively.  In his defense (no pun intended), part of the problem is that he used to be great so that's what I am still expecting.  That being said, he needs to be great on defense because his offense blows.
Before a game on Christmas against the Pacers, Bird told Chuck Person that he had a present for him. During the game, Bird shot a 3-pointer in front of Person. Immediately after releasing the ball, Bird said to Person, "Merry F!#*ing Christmas!" and then the shot went in.

It's amazing how much worse you look when you don't have Kevin Garnett behind you on defense for 30 minutes a night.

Shocking, really.
At least a goldfish with a Lincoln Log on its back goin' across your floor to your sock drawer has a miraculous connotation to it.

Or when you had major knee surgery that kept you out for over a year.

I still love Rondo! Sure, the departure compounded by the typical meddling media might leave a bad lasting impression, but I will always appreciate what he [and PP, KG, RA, Posey, etc.] brought to the C's to end that long drought of no titles or serious contending.

I named my username after him in Jan. '08.  ;)
