He's saying all the right things, but the workout video with him draining step back threes?  :o

I dunno, I think if Danny comes out with Upshaw/Turner, or a Upshaw/Hollis-Jeff, but what I really want is Stanely Johnson and Upshaw. Johnson and to an extent Hollis-Jeff like Smart are high character/leaders and def are guys who can further help shape the culture here. Upshaw seems to really understand that he's made mistakes and seems remorseful but who knows how he will turn out. Upshaw could be a beast or bust, but it all depends on his mindset.

Imagine a Upshaw/Turner frontcourt though?! If those guys even became half of what theyre supposed to be that would be a serious front court with floor spacing and rim protection. That fits perfectly into Brad's system and either guy could be paired with Sully or KO.

Hassan Whiteside....how good would he be now if someone had drafted him and kept him and trained him to excel like he is now...years after he made his NBA debut....could Upshaw be that guy for us?

I am quick to write off a guy who has been kicked off of two teams.

However, people that smoke weed even when they know it will cost them a lot often are doing it to self medicate. If he is getting the help he needs and back on the right path then I would bet on him. Not at 16 though.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

I have a feeling we might use the 16 pick on him. His stock is rising very quickly from the measurements and the interviews and I see him going in the lower 20's.
And he has the highest potential out of all the guys left on the board when we pick at 16.
He's a lottery type talent and a shot blocking machine which is something we needed for years!!

If we can't trade up we have to get him at 16 I don't want to settle for RHJ (who's ceiling is a little higher than crowder's) we don't need another rotation player we need a homerun and fireworks in free agency.

a Upshaw/Hollis-Jeff
This is becoming my favourite scenario with those picks. Package the 2nd rounders to move up from late 20s to early 20s. Get both guys.

But we do not know if it was just weed. It could have been pain killers or crack. The teams are very vague when talkn about his problem....

Tp great point. There is a huge difference between a guy who smokes a lot of weed and someone who smokes crack.

Whelp.......better than Fab Melo .....seems like the guy can shoot ........seems more intelligent that Whiteside.

I'm to the point .......we NEED to draft a young strong sturdy 7 center.

This team is never .....going to tank .....and get a top five

I think Danny needs to gamble some...we need a big big dude

He looks solid , as in somebody who isn't prone to injury ,  and I don't think he has physical issues.

One thing about 7 centers they are always in demand ......and Celtics need another REAL big like this guy .......

This guy has Sully's mass on a 7 ft platform .

So ,  he kinda reminds me of ThE Chief ......

He has a kinda natural Perk and Chief like Serious look .......that say s don't mess with me.

Ok........ If we can't 'to get WCS or Kamansky ,  or any decent pick......I d rather waste it on gamble for a big CENTER , than take another little guy .....dime a dozen.

Then maybe we should go for it

You just don't know with these big ol guys .

Danny .     ........is he the next "Chief"

I'd gamble

Actually, he's about fourty pounds lighter despite being four inches taller.  ;D

I agree with you.  I'm coming around on this guy for all the reasons you said.  None of the guys projected to go around 16 intrigue me.

I know we blew it on Melo .......but , I think ....."you can't let that flop dictate chancing on other players that could work out .   Win some ..loose some .......this team has to risk some ! They aren't tanking......and we see how difficult it is to attract a 7 foot ANYBODY .....

He seems like he could be a least as good as Perk.

What ever he did ,  I am for letting young people heal and make something of themselves .......

Nothing that heard makes me think , he doesn't deserve a chance .

Why not the Celtics ?

Been watching a lot of his footage lately and the thing that scares me is that he gets the ball at the high post and bullies his way inside with his back to the basket to score with a post move.
https://youtu.be/j8zfKVm24VQ (1:05 in this vid)

In the NBA -and probably at Washington for that matter- he probably would be expected to swing it to one of the wing players, instead of risking getting stripped from over dribbling. Can he learn this type of exchange? Would he want to?

Personally I like that kind of game from an aesthetics standpoint, I play like that myself in pickup and believe that the death of the back to basket big has been greatly exaggerated. I hope that the revival of the center position will bring with it more players with this skill set... but I'm not an NBA decision maker.

Don't really think that type of game has a place in CBS's system like it might have in Doc's. He only averaged 0.5 assist which means he might be a system breaker. Who knows though? Personally I'd take him at 16 and wouldn't look back.

money talks.  He knows its do or die now. He could become a successful, wealthy basketball player or become Robert Swift

I think Upshaw is going to seriously climb.  The Drummond "mistake" is going to have somebody take a risk. I think there is a decent chance Upshaw gets picked prior to 16. Charlotte, Indiana, Pistons can take risks

TP for the video.  All I have to say is 'dem post moves, tho' ;), lol ;D. His use of the 3rd person only came when he was speaking from the hypothetical standpoint of a gm who's looking to take him, btw, so I don't think it's a big deal.  Even Pierce has spoken in the 3rd person, recently, lol ;D. Not that I like it, of course, but I'm just pointing that out.

I can see Bird taking him, especially given his displeasure with Hibbert.
