  • I'm a Paul Heyman guy.
It will be very important, to his own well being, just where he actually ends up. He's saying all the right things, and he seems to be aware of his past actions, and that's a good thing.

He needs solid young people around him, and a coach that can mentor him. The Celtics family would be a great place IMO. Perfect young coach for him, a great sense of basketball history surrounding him, and good young hungry players around him.

He's worth a shot...at what number I don't know.

I say this with all respect.

If he's worth a shot, why worry about the number? All we have to worry is is he worth a shot giving up more assets to get?

I have been pulling and driving a wagon for this kid to be drafted by us, but I'm not going to give up aot if assets to get him. But, if he's within reach at #16, we should absolutely not hesitate to pick him. I agree that he is a "reach" st #16 (for how long I don't know), but if he's worth investing, why wait if he's there? Who's a better prospect than him on that position?

I won't give up a ton of assets to reach him, like give up another first or something. But I'm not waiting if he drops to #16. If he's there, and we believe it's worth investing, take him.

Looking at this pic, it looks like Upshaw might have done himself a disservice in his wingspan measurement with the way he held out his arms. Instead of holding his arms straight across he held them out slightly downwards, which could've caused him a couple of inches.

Kaminsky doing it the proper way

Maybe so, but I don't think there is any other pic or video I've seen of him doing it another way.

I've been wanting Upshaw at 16 as a "go big or go home" move since we fell into the playoffs and unfortunately necessitated us taking a chance in this draft, unlike having a good shot at Turner at 10-11 if we hadn't. This playoff cameo sucked.

I DON'T want Upshaw to look good NOW. I DON'T want Upshaw to come across well in interviews NOW. I DON'T want to "look" correct NOW. I DON'T want a lot of folks on this board to increasingly like Upshaw NOW, because if we're noticing, you can bet other teams in front of us are noticing.

Upshaw will easily go before 16, if this keeps up. Let's hope not. Very high risk, but potentially very high reward on this guy.....but, those playoffs were great weren't they? (big-time sarcasm)

I wouldn't worry about it too much.

From what Danny has been saying recently, it seems like the main thing he sees on the roster is a lack of higher end scoring talent, and his primary goal is to find a way to add "dynamic scorers."  Upshaw has lots of upside, but scoring probably isn't going to ever be his forte.

If Danny takes a risk (and risks don't seem to really be his thing, in the draft anyway) it'll probably be on a wing or big with scoring potential like Dekker, Oubre, Looney, Portis, Booker, or Hunter, or maybe even another scoring guard like Payne or Grant.

The focus on scorers is understandable.  The Celts have managed respectable defense despite the lack of personnel.  The biggest issues were rebounding and finishing.  The Celts learned this year to generate plenty of quality looks, but still lacked the kinds of players who could consistently finish those looks.

So what you're saying is that Upshaw likely has a wingspan of 7'6" to 7'7", aka Whiteside numbers.  Outstanding.

I wish I could give u a thousand tommy points.

IMO the best course of action is to trade Avery Evan Turner KO to make room for the younger guys and stop being stupid about making the playoffs just to get swept. This course will go great if James Young is ready to play heavy minutes at sg  and sf.
