What a poor list as usual by Ford

Okafor will be the Eddy Curry of the draft imo

How exactly are you seeing that?  One guy was coming out of high school pretty raw while the other guy is coming off a highly productive freshman season at one of the top Division 1 programs in the country.

Jeez if Harrell is there when we pick with our clips pick, I would jump at that.

I don't know a lot of about Kevon Looney, but I thought he had the strength of a 3 and the athleticism of a 4. Why is he considered a potential pick (not trying to be a jerk - I honestly want to know)?
check on draftexpress.com for details. most of the reports on looney have him as a tweener for sf and pf. the big hit on him is his shooting, which is not good. if he gets a good jump shot he immediately becomes a very good sf due to size and strength.

Looney shot 41.5% from 3's (22 of 53). That's pretty good. For comparison, Kaminsky who I project as a stretch 4 shot 41.6% albeit at a bigger sample size (42 for 101).

Looney has beautiful shooting form. The concern with me is not his jump-shot. It is his lack of ball-handling and shot-creation ability. Too limited to be a SF. Not well rounded enough offensively. Doesn't create well enough.

I think Looney is better suited to the PF position. He will be able to get into scoring opportunities much better vs PFs than SFs. His quickness in transition and ability to stretch the floor will be valuable. I love Looney's rebounding and defensive versatility. Play with toughness. I think Looney projects very well as an undersized quick PF.

A combo forward but more of a PF/SF than a SF/PF. Like Draymond Green.

So Looney is simultaneously a good shooter, a poor shooter a good ball handler and a poor ball handler?

"pretty raw" is also how Eddy Curry likes his french fries, fwiw.

Tp I completely agree with this, he certainly isn't an SF.

I think he can be a really good stretch 4 though and in todays NBA that is a valuable thing. With his length I think he could even provide some rim protection when he fills out.

If the C's draft him I will be very happy, because he is a high upside player due to his length and shooting. He is however a project and will need to add weight, improve his conditioning and keep improving as a shooter.

Guys who are Okafor's size are rarely as coordinated as him. I doubt he will be a bust. I do see him having potential issues of being soft but he will be a solid offensive player.

I really like the Al Jefferson comps with Okafor. I would absolutely take him with a top 3 pick. However, Towns is just in the stratosphere. It looks like Towns has the potential to be a "do it all" center in the pros and he already was in his last month or so at Kentucky.

I agree with the Al Jefferson comp, except Okafor is taller and longer (4 inch longer wingspan). Okafor's 7'6 wingspan makes me think he will learn to some day be a good defender. It is just going to take time.

magic.  ;D

plus, when you roll together different posters' posts (and some of them are half baked memories, such as mine was) things such as this happen. just consider it part of the fun of cb.  :)

Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

THe year the Celtics sneak into the playoffs looks to be one of the better lotterys in recent years.. I hope DA makes some moves to move up and pick up a big or a wing..

I think Ainge knows he is at the point in the rebuild where he is unlikely to get any benefit out of actually using his mid to late first round draft choices. He now has a full roster of productive NBA role players. Pushing one aside for another isn't getting us anywhere.

He is more likely to do something that gives him a chance at a star at this point, or he will trade his current choices for future ones. Don't expect us to draft in our current slots this year.

Kaminsky showed me enough in the final 4 to take in the first round. I'd trade up, if  had to.
