You also said the starting line up for the Kings ranked near the top of the league for defense.   ::)

And, it does.  The starting lineup isn't the problem.  The Kings' starters still outscore their opponents by around +16 points per 100 possessions.  That's even after Tyrone Corbin's ridiculous focus on offense and "pace" that has thrown the team into a tailspin.

The Kings outscore their opponents in the top nine lineups Cousins is in.  That's ridiculous, for a guy on a bad team to have that type of impact.  Heck, not even Lebron and the Cavs can claim that, as the Cavs only outscore opponents in 6 of the 9 top lineups for Lebron.

This kid is a true superstar who is making an exceptional impact on the court.  His team, especially the bench, are truly terrible, so he doesn't win.  That has nothing to do with Boogie's impact, though; if you stopped counting score after DMC was on the bench, the Kings would be one of the league's powerhouses.

We would do it, the kings will not.  He is worth more than the number one pick.   He would have to sign off on us, and there is no indication he would, especially w/o Rondo, who he has made some nice comments about.

No doubt about it Cousins is a talent. And yes, he must be getting tired of playing with an organization that can't seem to get out of it's only way. He has to realize he's waisting his career in Sacramento.

But I think the Kings will literally hold him ransom, holding out for a maximum haul. If we were talking about a solid NBA citizen, it actually may be worth paying a little extra for him.
But with Cousins' crazy antics, pouting, arguing, I just feel hesitant.

lol I don't know how valid a stat could possibly be that shows Cousins as a superior difference maker then Lebron. This is another example of how stats are so over used in here.

I won't disagree with the idea that Cousins is a great talent. But until he matures, and plays better defense, I won't consider him elite.

He also is posting 4.3 turnovers a game. 4.2 fouls a game. And shooting only 46 percent as a big who doesn't shoot threes. Granted he does get to the line, but these are not the best numbers for a big.

Offense:
He would fit perfect with any remaining talent on this roster. No one can score in the paint so it'd be all his. Leave room for the shooters on this team once they have to double down on him. No more pressure for the young guards to penetrate (though i'd still want them to)

Defense:
He's already better than Zeller and Sully holding down the paint. He's got the same rebounds and more blocks than both of them combined.

I get why people like Jahlil, but that kid's got a lot to learn about defense. Don't treat Demarcus like he's a seasoned vet. He's 24. I'll take the attitude any day, because we criticize guys like Hibbert, Serge, and Blake for being soft when it matters. No thanks.

I wonder how many that wouldn't do this type of trade have NBA League Pass or have access to watching the Kings on a regular basis. If you haven't seen DMC play many games over this year then you are basically basing you opinion on a bad game DMC had in Boston.

Cousins has been an excellent defender this year. Except for his act out in Boston and a few games around that same time, he has played maturely and dominantly.

Insomnia sucks but having League Pass and having seen this kid play a bunch this year, I gotta say, this isn't the same DMC from 2 years ago or even last year. Kid has grown up.

I would make the trade of a #1 pick for DMC in a half a heart beat. He is that good and only 24.

I will vouch for nick here:  he's been a huge DMC skeptic, repeatedly knocking him on D last year.  His opinion has changed as Cousins has changed.

This is a Have-To move if Boogie is available--

Step 1)  the #1 overall and three 2nds next year + Bradley, Sully, Olynyk & Turner -- for Boogie.

Step 2)  re-sign Bass & Crowder, let Thornton & Prince expire ($16m)

Step 3)  sign a FA shooter, someone like Louis Williams or Wes Johnson who won't break the bank

Step 4) with leftover cap, bring back Paul Pierce for the reunion tour.  Truth be told, he's still one of the best SF's in the game.

Smart
FA shooter/ Young
Pierce/ Crowder
Bass
Boogie/ Zeller

This team could take over the East and we'd still have all the BKL picks to setup a dynasty around Boogie & Smart.

Pierce has a player option in Washington. If they go deep in the playoffs I don't see him opting out to come back to Boston.

Messing around with the Kings bloggers the other day, I tossed out an offer of Sully, Smart, Young and 4 firsts (2 lotto picks).  Laughter and ridicule.  Wouldn't even consider it.  That's how much the fans think of Boogie.
