When Avery Bradley arrived on the scene and stole Ray Allen's starting spot, he was very very good at on ball defense and moving without the ball (some of those backdoor cuts he used to make were brilliant). He had the explosiveness and quickness and he seemed to have the fire that we C's fans love. I remember thinking, "man if he can extend his range a little bit and improve his handle to the point were he can dribble the ball without the fear of a turnover, he will be an above average shooting guard".
Well here we are. He has a decent jump shot and his handle has improved dramatically.
He should be very good, instead, he doesn't really play good D, he never cuts, he doesn't seem to care, and all he does do is take contested twos.
Maybe it is Jeff Green complex and he would be good as the 4th/5th option on the team, but because he is forced into a roll as a prominent scoring option his flaws are amplified?
who knows?
That being said I don't see his contract as an albatross. A slight overpay, but 8 million for a 5-7th man seems pretty reasonable.
