The argument on this board is ~90% because of his contract which I understand. Personally I like AB and wanted him back but $8mil is too much. 5-6 would have been better but I like what he does; provides in your face defense and is not afraid to shoot (which is lacking on this team).

Not to mention he could end up being a bargain with the new salary cap situation. Not like we went all in on Melo since I bet a lot of the people bashing AB would've given Melo anything to come here.

Another team would have taken him away if that's all he was offered.  Remember Tony Allen.

I am sure letting Tony Allen walk has haunted Danny for many days.  He was not going to let that happen again with AB - a slightly inferior. defensive talent with better offensive skills.
Tony Allen wanted to be a starter and get paid. That wasn't going to happen on the Celtics with ray Allen still on the roster.

AB does not make 8m this year. I have discussed the reasons why he isn't overpaid and why he is not as bad as people say, I'm over it. Ainge paid him, people on a message board aren't going to convince me he is overpaid just because "experts" and CBers say he is.
It takes me 3hrs to get to Miami and 1hr to get to Orlando... but I *SPIT* on their NBA teams! "Bless God and bless the (Celts)"-Lady GaGa (she said gays but she really meant Celts)

Thank you for this. I am about to ditch this forum because of the negativity.

Admittedly the constant negativity is a major reason why I don't post here very often anymore.  I know this is a tough time, but much of this criticism falls somewhere between ridiculous and unreasonable.

Same...

Me too.

Negativity is one of the few attractions of this site.  I have no interest in collective delusions.

Let's not forget that AB beat out Ray Allen for a starting spot. I think the people who are really upset about his contract are the ones thinking, "if only we didn't have AB we could sign 2 max guys"

the reason i dont care for avery bradley so much is simply because i want great players on this team. avery is not great or good. in fact every single metric available conclusively shows that he is actually below average and only a bench player.

i dont want him to see too much court time because i want to develop the young talent so they increase in value and when a trade possibility comes up for a very good or great player comes up i want our players to have enough value that we will be able to get said player.

if a player becomes available in free agency i want us to squeeze every dollar in the salary cap to get a much good basketball out of our team as we can possibly get. players who are as effective as avery, or just minutely below avery's effectiveness as a player are a dime a dozen and the court time he receives as well as the salary he gets could be put to better use.

maybe a few years ago he was a defensive beast and beat ray allen out of a starting spot, but nowadays he just isn't performing enough quality basketball to be in a starting lineup. if he was younger and had potential for radical growth i would give him that spot to help him develop, but right now i think the only reason he's still in the starting lineup is because danny doesnt want to irreparably hurt his trade value.

I like Bradley, IMO he is in a temporary position at starting SG. As this team improves you will see a new face at this position. He's simply not big enough to play the position on a contending team. And too hot and cold with his shooting. (Lets not get into his passing)

I like him off the bench, nice on the ball D, and the possibility of a hot hand shooting. Good kid, full of heart.

I agree with your assessment of AB of being a bench player.  With the current state of the C's, I don't want to have 4yr/32mil tied up in a bench player.  So I'd prefer to trade Bradley for someone with more upside potential.  If OKC would do it, I'd probably do a trade built around Bradley for Reggie Jackson.

I guess his contract is not so bad length wise.  It will be well into his contract at the earliest before Celtics are ready to rock.

He'll be expiring around the find I feel the team makes a serious move .

That's a good idea, OKC gets a young player that defends well, and can heat up on the offensive end. We get a real scorer with more up side. Granted, we would have to sign him.

Correct reasoning plus I see AB growing better and bettr like Jeff Teague has.
