To me: Smart, Young, Crowder, Zeller and Olynyk are worth keeping for the long term. I want to say Sully's in the mix too, but I'm still torn on whether or not KO & Sully can work on the same team.
No not necessarily. These are the guys who can fetch something in trade. I might keep Young but none of the others will be big stars in this league, just rotation players, at best.
Smart has the most potential of anyone on the team. I think he has several ALL-Star games in his future. It will take a while, but he'll get there.
Smart is the Jeff Green of this draft class: Plenty of skill but will never be an All-Star. Both were "safe" picks, that is, players who would most likely pan out into something decent but not stars.
Vehemently disagree...You put Marcus Smart & Jeff Green into a steel cage and Green is ripped to shreds within two minutes. Those two guys couldn't be any more different make up wise. Green has all the talent to be a bonafide star. The only reason why he's not is because he's "too happy to be here". Smart will get every inch out of his ability, b/c his work ethic is off the charts.
The difference between a good player and a great player, most of the time is the willingness to work and get better. Smart has that in SPADES. Green is missing that vital gene.
