With Rondo gone, it really is now time for Danny to cash in.
I'm just not sure we can land a marquee name but I'm hoping on hope that if we don't, we can at least get a couple of starter quality talent and we can start the rebuild.
We have picks and cap room. We should be able to land a good player by next year, either And up and comer or an established veteran.
Also, here's hoping the ping pongs be in our favor.
I agree with this, but I think it is optimistic to think we can go the FA route for a high end player.
Even if we have the "room" under the cap, We can't offer as much as teams in lower tax rates, simply because of taxes.
We also can't offer the allure of "winning a championship" since we... um, suck.
And we aren't a big media place like LA or NY.
So, I fully expect Danny to search for a trade partner at the deadline, using a combination of players and picks to bring back a somewhat marquee player that can be built around. Given the likely salary attached to such a player, this hurts the chances of signing a big name FA, but then again I view that as difficult anyway.
