The Iverson that made the finals have a great defensive team. I mean Dikembe Mutombo also won DPOY that year. Give Rondo that type of player and he can go as far as Iverson. Who's close to Mutombo's impact to this team, Marcus Smart? Even if Smart does, he is far from being well developed.

"Rondo had all of those assists, just because he played with 3 HOF`s".

Rajon > Allen :)

iverson - selfish
rondo - unselfish

They were both selfish in different ways, we've all seen Rondo give up easy lay ups to pass to someone for a three. He certainly plays to get the assist, good for him hes very good at it.

When he gives up easy layups it's usually to get other people easy layups, like with Green last night.

AI was the most inefficient scorer in the history of all basketball ever, Rondo is the best passer since Stockon. They`re the same?

I guess u never saw Magic Johnson play the point...

He said Rondo is the best passer since stockton, who's career ended after Magic's , meaning Rondo is the best since Stockton. Why don't you try comprehending what you read .

Call me crazy but didn't Rondo WIN a title?  Took a team to another one and might have won a second if my second least favorite player in the history of the NBA didn't try to break his arm.

Two totally different styles but the biggest difference is AI couldn't have played with other great offensive players like Pierce and Ray Ray while Rondo helped them excel.

Pierce established All-Star, Allen All-star, Garnett Hall of Famer. To think Rondo took a team anywhere is absurd. He was a piece to a large puzzle that put it all together.
Lets not forget, Pierce was already here.

Rondo is not Pierce nor is he CPaul. He is not going to attract any big time free agents here in Boston. We saw that last season with Anthony. Don't tell me Ainge couldn't have gotten creative like Clev did to obtain Love by trading salaries and picks to get Anthony signed . If Love told MN he wanted Boston he'd be in Boston. There is a reason, and it probably runs deeper than Rondo the player on the court.

All Im saying is, Rondo is a legit trade chip to improve this Team going forward with the rebuilding process. If you keep him here in Boston, your never going to win. He will age with a big contract you'll never move plus, I don't believe he is a true Leader. He proved that when he thru Stevens under the bus with the birthday bash!

your credibility took a huge hit just praising Iverson but you eliminated whatever was left by calling PP and Ray only All-Stars.  They'll be in the HOF and it's not even in question.  obviously your talent evaluation isn't as good as you think

as for the main topic, I'd take Rondo over Iverson all day long.  Iverson was always an overrated chucker who didn't make any of his teammates better.  Rondo gets his teammates involved and is unselfish to a fault.  He also contributes to the game in so many more ways than Iverson ever did.

Can't stand Iverson  -- he represents everything that was wrong with basketball in the 90's and early 00's.  only positive aspect to him is he hated losing--I'll at least give him that.  but even then, he would only try to win on his terms but he was too pig-headed to realize that his way of playing would never result in a championship

HAHA  You guys crack me up..
When did you start following the Celtics? Pre 90 or Post 90. I go back to 1974 when Jo Jo White ran the point for 2 Championship seasons my friend. You ever see Jo Jo play?
Rondo couldn't hold Jo Jo White's Jock..

I tell you what Brother, when AI is giving his speech in Springfield you make sure you praise him then.
When Rondo puts himself in front of the Celtics again, and it will happen, you make sure you get invited to his birthday party.

Back to AI. Go search out some stats, most elite point guards shot between 40 and 50 % from the field, so the argument is moot..

Like I said, Rondo has value, not in Boston. If this player was a Team Player he would not be asking for a Max deal!

passer is different from being a better overall player , but Rondo is on the same level with all those players, he's just not a closer . He does everything else just as good, if not better than those players you listed (rebounding, defense/steals, court vision/passing, bball IQ)

I'm going to say no because they are two completely different players. Their only similarity is that they are both not the greatest shooters and they both said if they weren't nba stars they'd be NFL quarterbacks.

I'd guess you haven't either if you think that Parker or Curry are great passers.

No, he is not.

AI is a future 1st ballot HOFer. Rajon is still writing his career book, and it has many chapters left.

If this thread is the result of his late-game issue vs CLE, then it is understandable to be frustrated. But this team is still growing and Coach Stevens is still trying to make the pieces work.

I think when it's all said and done, Rajon Rondo will have many more positive late-game heroics than he did vs CLE. We took perhaps the best team in the east, fully healthy, down to the wire.

And we were missing our pit bull Marcus Smart.

And if Danny determines that BOS is better off without him, I'd pray that whatever we have coming back for him would be worth it.

For me, BOS is not better off without Rajon Rondo.

I was not saying they were the same player.  The styles are nowhere the same.  Let me try to say what I mean.  When my friend was watching the 76ers he would not understand why when AI was out the team would play better.  I feal that way with Rondo at times (even though I think he is great ).  See the chicago game and then OKC.  Its almost like the players around them do not play as hard, but when they are out, effort goes up.

I really don't see any similarities between the two besides both being guards.

Their styles of play & temperaments are completely different.

  Couple of tough customers though.
Tough customers play defense, don't they?
