As I was watching the game last night I started thinking about my friend the Philly fan.  He loved Philly and AI and would defend them to the end, even after noticing that many times the team played better without him.  They  both very different and unique players, and both fill up a stat sheet in different ways.  Although this is fun to watch, do they do more bad then good to chemistry?  I am not a Rondo hater, and would prob. not be happy if we traded him,  but would we be better off without him?

Iverson is a Hall of Famer my friend. Rondo's game isn't even close to AI on his best day..

I understand what your trying to say, no way in hell should Rondo and Iverson be spoken in the same sentence!

I said it once I'll say it again, Rondo's value to the Celtics is via trade. He proved his worth last night by not being able to hit open jump shots. He cannot shoot, he is not a leader..

Yes, he can be a viable PG on an established team. Not with rookies and or fringe players.
If Danny does not trade him, then Ainge himself should be shown the door!

Its about Scouting drafting development..

Rondo isn't close to AI ? You are insane. Rondo does much more than AI could ever do. AI was the ultimate chucker

Rondo makes everyone around him better , AI never did that .

Incredibly homer take, Iverson was a scoring champ and an MVP who single handedly lead his team to the finals. I realize this is a Celtics board but we are a more educated fan base than this. Respect the greatness of other teams players.

Rondo isnt a viable PG on a team of rookies and fringe players, yet we have the 5th ranked offense in the NBA.  Good call.  I'm sure youre full of excuses for why that doesnt matter, and filled with even more reasons for why something is Rondos fault when it clearly isnt.

I should have stopped reading this post after the first sentence.

They were both selfish in different ways, we've all seen Rondo give up easy lay ups to pass to someone for a three. He certainly plays to get the assist, good for him hes very good at it.

AI was a career 42% shooter and 31% from three while taking 20 shots per game , if that's not inefficient then I don't know what is . The only reason why Philly ever reached the Finals was because the East was Putrid those years, and he had a great defensive team behind him . They would all play stellar D and then hand the ball to Iverson and get out of the way . Obviously he was a great scorer, but not efficient and didn't make teammates better, just ask Melo on those denver teams. That is why he was out of the league by age 33 or 34 .

This year that Iverson won MVP and 'single handedly' took his team to the finals.  He shot 42% from the field and took over 25 shots a game.  He was a chucker.

Yeah they made it to the finals.  Did you watch basketball back then?  DO you remember how big of a joke the east was back then?  He beat the Bucks and Raptors to make it to the finals.  Neither of those teams made it back to the playoffs, and Iverson was bounced in the first round the next year.

Everyones entitled to an opinion, but that post you tried to shoot down was hardly a homer post.

Evan Turner is our Iverson.
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

Whatever the competition was he scored over 30 PPG and carried a team to the finals. Do you see how bad the east is this year? If Rondo doesn't carry us to AT LEAST the playoffs how do we judge him then based on how you judge AI? Ridiculous.

I'm not saying I hate Rondo, I love Rondo and hes our best player. However, hes no where close to AI in terms of production of his ability to carry a team. Its not up for debate.

Rondo carried the team to game 7 of the ECF in 2012 against a team that most people would agree could have handled that Philly finals team. I agree with you that AI's frequently underrated but then, so's Rondo.

Don't read it my friend..
5th ranked offense doesn't mean sh!t when you allow 107 points per game and you cannot stop anyone or body at the defensive end when you need it.

Its not all rondo's fault, I agree with you there. Lets not make this player out to be the second coming of Tiny Archibald, Dennis Johnson or perhaps Bob Cousy..

Come on my friend, you've been watching to many of the AI "playoffs" rant haven't you..
I'll make sure to buy you a ticket when Rondo is voted into the Hall of Fame..

Rondo has value to the Celtics and its fan base via trade!
Bird McHale and the Chief are gone, KG, Pierce, Ray, Perk, all gone. You have one viable asset to make your Team better and its Trading Rondo to further more build the future of this Club and its Roster..
