I'd be much more disappointed if Danny had squandered assets and cap flexibility for mid-tier upgrades.

instead we just signed mid-tier upgrades...well not upgrades, but players.

I think he means overpaid role players

BUMP

We don't even know if Turner or Thornton are going to be on the team.

I think reality is finally setting in for fans who expected Boston to have a quick and easy turnaround from elderly playoff fodder to youthful contender.  Optimistically this will take a few years.  More likely we are stuck in a rut indefinitely.   I'm buckling in for many 20-40 win seasons.  I bet the next true boston Celtic star is someone we haven't even heard of yet. He's probably in middle school or something.   We will probably trade for him 20 years from now when he's in the tail end of his prime.  We will win a title, do a 5 year victory lap... And blow it up again.

Thanks for the pick me up ;D

Problem with that is, you risk turning away ALOT of people.

Or more likely that the players they have now will grow into nice players that'll be used in a trade or they'll be there when the next Celtic franchise player arrives in 2-3 years. I don't think there's going to be a repeat of what happened to the Celtics in the nineties and the early 2000's.

You never know when that franchise player will slide down to you.  Paul Pierce was a #10 pick, kawhi leonard was the #15 overall pick, rajon rondo was pick #21, and tony parker was pick #28.  So it's as much luck as anything and you don't necessarily need a top 5 pick to land a star player.

Who knows maybe a couple of years from now we'll be talking about how KO turned into Dirk-lite and how lucky we were to get him at pick #13 and Smart turns into Westbrook-lite at pick #6.  Only time will tell.

But patience is rarely a forte of fans, we want to see wins now darnit!! ;-)

just turns away the fairweather fans for the most part.  the hardcore fans follow the team no matter what.  while that may impact them in ticket sales eventually, I really don't think Danny intends to be complacent long enough for that to occur.

still firmly believe next summer is the one where he makes the move(s) to put the team on the upswing.

LeBroni is controlling NBA...

All the players flocking around him.

No need to rush ...we can  t get enough stars together to beat his team any time soon.

If there was no LeBron ...then the Rebuilding could happen much quicker.......

LeBron upsets the distribution of talent .

Well, it really came down to one thing.  Cleveland decided it was willing to part with Wiggins in exchange for Love.

If Cleveland's not willing to make that swap, I believe the C's would have been right there still in the mix for Love.  Sully/Smart/future picks might well have been one of the better offers Minnesota would have had available.  Love was being traded SOMEWHERE, that's been obvious for months.

And from there...  who knows?  The rest of the team comes together quite differently when you're building around a pair of All Stars, not when you're trying to flesh out a lottery squad with reclamation projects like ET.  There still would have been work to be done, but it's all butterfly effect; maybe Pierce decides to come back here.  Who knows?  We at least would have had a path towards getting back into the playoffs next year.

But, didn't happen.  Alas.  Player-development time.

Maybe yes, maybe no.

It didn't look like Saunders ever really wanted to play ball with Danny Ainge.  If Lebron didn't go to Cleveland and if Cleveland wasn't willing to trade Wiggins, Minny might have accepted either Chicago's or Golden State's offer instead.

OR, they might have just kept Love in Minnesota.
