For the fans that are unrealistic and impatient, this has been a lame off-season.  For those that are reasonable, it is about what was expected.

Ditto.

It's a multi-year rebuild.  I know its not moving along fast enough for some people but this team is getting younger while maintaining roster flexibility and asset accumulation.  They haven't dug themselves into any real holes.  The AB contract maybe being the most controversial but certainly not a death kneel or anything.

This.

anyone expecting a 1-year turnaround was unrealistic.  this will take 2-3 years before we're really on the upswing.  It's either going to take some luck in landing a stud via the lottery, some luck in finding a trading partner where we bring in established talent for youth/picks and smart salary cap management to have the financial flexibility to sign a top free agent if one becomes available.

Definitely a bad offseason, as now the next 4-6 seasons wrapped up by the Cavs, at least in the East!  So no rush to do anything soon.  All our guys in their late twenties need to be moved.  Hopefully 2018ish there will be an opportunity to become a title contender again, with our youngsters hitting their prime.

I think you overestimate the Cavs. They now have 2 maxed out players, and are about to pay Love close to max out money. The bench could possibly be worse than in Miami, with very little flexibility if one of those 3 players doesn't live up to expectations.

The Celtics just need to bide their time, and these assets that we have accumulated will pan out.

Yep.   A bucket of barf.    I have no idea what they're trying to do.  Overpaying Bradley and adding another bum like Turner.

Brad Stevens should run for his life and save his career.

LOL. I actually kinda liked the Turner pick-up. But other than that, yeah......

I've got to think DA still has another moved mapped out to get Rondo another veteran to play with or Rondo requests a trade between now and the beginning of training camp.

It's been a lame off-season for sure. I do like the draft results but like some feel, it's hard to get excited for Smart when Rondo is still here. Add in that Rondo market should be at it's peak given so many teams were in buy/trade mode this off-season. Kind of disappointed Rondo is still here value wise, not the player.

AB was an overpay for a RFA but the market kind of forced it or at least DA will say it did. DA should have got him at 6 or 7 million. Most could see 6 million as reasonable.

Turner I can't get excited about because even if he is a good gamble C's didn't lock him up cheap for 4 years. Turner will likely also be overpaid or leave after this short deal. Also why the need for AB, Thornton, Turner wth happens with Young now? Guy will probably not get any PT and regress a little.

The TPE went horrible it was meant to be a way to absorb a vet who would help C's win or absorb a bad player in the process of getting a star. Cavs used C's TPE to get the star and to win! Oh but we got a big white guy (raja, knight, veal, Stiesma, Hump, and the rest all sucked) and the "top 2nd round pick" so I'm supposed to be pumped?

This off-season outside of the draft has been very lame and I'm not even one of the "we need a rim protector CBs" lol.

I agree this roster has nothing close to a star player. 11 role players/prospects and 1 rookie who will be playing in China 5 years from now in Marcus Banks 2.0. Next year they can get a franchise player though by doing the right thing and tanking. Philly is setting themselves up to be amazing in the next few years.

Yes, and how could I forget that??

The Celts being a huge contributing factor to Cavs having the cap space to get Lebron by agreeing to that 3 way with Brooklyn.

Is Ainge best friends with Dan Gilbert or something?

I agree with everyone who mentioned the lottery being the main culprit. The reason it's been "lame" is that people wanted our first pick to either result in a star through the draft or through a trade. By ending up with the sixth pick, the Celtics could not entice Saunders on a Love trade and they also missed out on all the higher-potential prospects.

The biggest addition this offseason in Smart also seems underwhelming because he plays the same position as our biggest star. That just creates a lot of confusion and uncertainty as to the direction the franchise is going in.

Besides the fact that we didn't really obtain a star, the search for a rim protector is still ongoing. They really don't have anybody at this point so either they draft someone next year who will be ready sometime in 2018-2020 or they use their assets to acquire somebody.

Everybody grab a seat because rebuilding is going to take awhile... =(

Would be happy if the celtics had exum who plays the same position as rondo and I think the rebuilding won't be as long as you think it is

But I think Smart is more "NBA ready" than Exum, isn't he?

You forgot it because it's really a non-factor. If the Celtics didn't do it, someone else would have (and there were plenty of teams in position to benefit from this). So with something that's already a forgone conclusion with or without us, we got a lot of value out of it.

I don't disagree some one would have benefited but C's didn't get much for the the TPE which everyone had decent hopes for. Also we helped Brooklyn.  Cs have their first why help them it just lowered the picks value.

No one knows, really. "NBA Ready" can be used to describe more or less any part of a player's game.
At least a goldfish with a Lincoln Log on its back goin' across your floor to your sock drawer has a miraculous connotation to it.

You know just to appease the people on this blog, I hope Danny will just go Rick Pitino and trade his assets for overpaid players.
