Not to say that this was the exact strategy that failed Cleveland the first time around...

But this was the exact strategy that failed Cleveland the first time around.

I think you'd be looking at a better talent core here with Irvin/Lebron/Love than what CLE was trotting out in the late 2000s.  This isn't Mo Williams, a past his prime Antawn Jamison, and friends.

this is the opposite of last time. this time there willing to give up Wiggins, last time they wouldn't give up Hickson. granted Wiggens is better the Hickson, but Love is better then Amare was even back then.

Was referring more to the fact that they're (apparently) catering to LeBron's whims by goring themselves to appease him. They should be shipping out Sidesharajo, but they won't, because LeBron likes him.

I kinda disagree. Magic have Payton, oladipo, Harris, Vucevic, Gordon and some decent PFs.
Bucks have Knight, Giaannis, Parker, Henson Sanders
Philly with MCW, Young, Noel, Embiid

you are right that all of them have one big question mark (Gordon, Sanders, Embiid)...but if all goes  rigt, those guys are way more potentially impactful than any of our guys. Just my opinion, and its so hard to predict.

To cavs: Love, Dieng
To wolves: Wiggins, Bennett, Waiters

Its going to happen unless GSW warriors step in and involve thompson now

Waiters, Thompson or Bennet and Wiggins.. if Flip turns that down he is an idiot. Love is nOT going to sign with Minny next year. Bennett will be mUCH better this year based on SL.

All those lamenting a long rebuild... well its not just that. The future Cavs, Magic, Sixers, Bucks will be loaded. I like their young options better than ours. We seem to be stuck in limbo, but the saving grace is all those picks. Just one impact Big and some good trades could get us back in the mix. I'm still hesistant to count on Smart/Sully at this point, but if they blossom, then we will be OK.

True, of course they will all be hitting max contract time around the same time

Say it's Wiggins + Waiters + Bennett for Love.  I think that's way too much.
Not if King James wants it....Wondering if as part of his meeting with Gilbert that Gilbert had to agree to get whomever James wanted...

Thompson is going to stay bc James wants him to. When he signed he said he is looking fwd to play with thompson , irving and also mentioned Varejao's name

If the wolves reject this deal it won't be bc of the gm. He can't even be that dumb. It's prob bc of the owner who is that dumb

The Cavs don't have a ton of salary flexibility, meaning they'd have to send some decent talent to Minnesota along with Wiggins.  They'd probably have to include two of Bennett, Waiters, and Thompson.

Say it's Wiggins + Waiters + Bennett for Love.  I think that's way too much.

Agreed.

Wiggins + Bennett/Thompson would be enough for me if I'm Minnesota. Waiters would be icing on the cake.
PHX Suns: Russell Westbrook, Chris Bosh, Tristan Thompson, Trevor Ariza, Tony Allen, Trey Lyles, Corey Brewer, Larry Nance Jr., Trey Burke, Troy Daniels, Joffrey Lauvergne, Justin Holiday, Mike Muscala, 14.6

It amazes me how much power James has in all of this. Would anybody else be surprised if James was promised a front office job right after he retires??

several times a month Adam silver gently bounces Lebron James on his knee and asks him what he wants. Every time so far he has elected for a lollypop. Perhaps this month he will say Love.

Yes. I don't think James wants a front office gig -- I think he wants to be an owner.

over in the wolves fan forum.....What they think they should get..at least from a few fans...

http://www.canishoopus.com/2014/7/17/5913423/wiggins-now-on-the-table-for-kevin-love

"We need to take on Haywood’s ~10mil. cap filler, plus one of Waiters/Bennett/Thompson.

That being the case, how many 1st round picks do you think are on the table? I wouldn’t assume that the Cavs would be willing to part with more than 1, but I’d want 2 from Cleveland for the deal. I guess it depends on which filler we end up with, and how much Flip values him.

These are exciting times, for sure. If we take on Wiggins, we definitely need to do some roster dumping at the wing. Even if they’re expecting LRMaM to play 4 exclusively, that leaves KMart, Shved, LaVine, Brewer, Bud, Muhammad, and Wiggins. Way too many players for the 96 minutes a game the wings play."

"? Cavs board clamoring for Dieng to be included

Makes me nervous… Hard to see us including our best young prospect, but you never know.

C’mon, Flip. Do this right."

===========================================

"Spanish_Inquisition
? Get ready for this steaming #hotsportstake in two years

“Is this the worst front office in basketball or what? Kaaaaaaahn!”

“Bill… Kahn’s been gone for… quite a while.”

My only consolation is that the Celtics will not be getting Kevin Love, and will be joining us in rebuild land for at least a couple of seasons.

I believe in unicorns."

Darth Paxton
? If we can get Wiggins, this is the next trade I would make.
