His lack of conditioning is really disappointing.  That vid of him in HS is saddening a little, in that it shows the kind of condition he can be in.

There are guys who've eaten their way out of the league.  Hot Plate Williams, Shawn Kemp, etc, etc.  I'm hoping he doesn't add himself to such an inglorious list.

I had seen a picture of him earlier this summer where he looked way heavier than in his rookie season, too, and this new video just confirms it.  Very disappointing.

I mean...  he barely looked like he could dunk.  Looks like he's got less vertical than I do!  He better be in better shape than this, or he's going to be back playing against high school kids at the YMCA full-time.

MAN, that's a downer.  Doesn't really look like an NBA player in this vid.

Shawn Kemp, Ollie Miller, Eddy Curry, Tractor Traylor...  no shortage of precedents for skilled big men who ate themselves out of the league.

Yup.  I shared that on an earlier thread.  It blew me away when i first watched it.  i couldn't believe that Sully was ever that mobile.  Normally as our bodies transition from high school to college age we gain strength and mobility...Sully went the other way.

People have been asking who our starting 5 is for awhile now and I think we have our answer.

At 6'9 and 290lbs....

Hope his dad isn't mad at the C's because we "promised a center" so his son could play the 4 spot.  I'm pretty sure Stevens told Sully he needed to be in better condition this off season and he clearly didn't keep his promise.

There are reasons he dropped to 20 in the draft. Why does eveyone seem so surprised that he's not in shape. I hope it makes everyone appreciate the tru proffessionals like the Brandon Bass's of the world a little bit more.

That sad part is if we traded him home to Cleveland Lebron would have him in top shape in one season...I don't doubt KG would be giving him an earful as well...their just isn't the same leadership on the C's roster right now.

Can we trade 2014 Sully for the high-school version?

Hey it's not entirely out of the realm of possibility he drops 50 lbs in 3 months  ::)

Can we get Tony Horton to be Jared Sullinger's full-time life coach?

You know what, though?.  You've got it inside you or you don't.  KG has played alongside plenty of dudes who couldn't give a rats' ass what he said or thought.  How long was he teammates with Mark Blount?  If you're a guy who's going to give your every last effort anyway, KG would be a phenomenal person to learn from and to have as a mentor, but if you'd don't already have the motor...

I don't mind him being "big" especially if he is going to play center again this year, but he looks "soft"....

As far as bulking/cutting theory... he wasn't lacking strength last year, plus we are almost at pre-season, so he would need to be approaching his playing weight. You don't cut 40 pounds during the season, it takes 2-3 months to do this safely and it messes with your ability to play (you are at a caloric deficit all the time).

This is upsetting. Sully must not think his weight is a big deal . .. bc he's done nothing to address it. He doesn't need to get skinny, but he needs to be at least 20 lbs leaner than he looks to be.

The kid has skills, high BBIQ so he's no idiot. He's got passion for the game. He's gotta put that passion ahead of passion for the plate. I seriously cannot believe he hasn't improved his weight since season's end.

I read about another young NBA player who hired a personal chef and make some big differences in his conditioning. How can Sully not be doing this? He needs to mimic everything Kevin Love did, including the trim down to a leaner body type.

I dont mind him being big, if he can carry it without getting hurt.

Shaq carried his 300lb frame, so is Big Baby. If Sully can be inury free and still be able to move well, i dont care if he's as big as Mark Henry. But thats the sticking point. If he loses mobility or he gets injured a lot because of the heavy body, then its time to lose weight.
