radio just said cleveland has deal in place for kevin love.

Not true until Woj says it.

If this is true, this deal by the Celts means Cleveland becomes a championship contender next year -- Lebron, Love and Irving. What is says about when the Celts become real competitors, I have no idea. If this comes together for the Cavs, they should hang a Danny banner in their arena.

don't mean to bring up his name again....
but would we have enough assets now to make a stronger play at kLove w/o losing rondo?

a bazillion first round picks and a bazillion dollars worth of expiring contracts?

No.  The Timberwolves seem to want established players in return with a goal of ending their playoff drought ASAP.  You still need to find a third team who has a player that Flip Saunders wants.

A great, great added bonus to today's trade is that we may have helped sealed the deal for Lebron to go to Cleveland and have killed the Miami Heat, leaving Wade and Riley in misery.

I would have done the deal just for that alone.
i'll give Danny an A+ for this reason alone.

Wonderful!  Well done by Ainge to cash in that tpe...  Add another 1st to the list of assets Ainge for for kg and pierce.  Hilarious return for some elderlies.

Only bad news is that if cavs get Lebron, you can forget about Kevin love

Zeller is 7' 1"! HALLELUJAH FOR THAT SIZE!
height is not the key here since he won't rebound with his head.

seller has short arms. only a 7' wingspan and 8' 8.5" standing reach.

for context, the average center in the nab has a wingspan of 7' 2.6" and a standing reach of 9' 1.3". That means zeller's standing reach is almost 5 inches shorter than the average center.

That really sucks for 2014 but gives tremendous hope for 2015

If the Cavs want to trade Wiggins and other assets for Love, Ainge couldn't realistically compete with that. At least he is taking advantage of the situation to get assets out if it for the trade exception

If Love and Lebron go to Cleveland, the best strategy for the Celts next year is probably to tank and tank hard.

Yep. Its not as if the Celtics involvement in the 3way took them out of the hunt for Love. If anything, made it easier for them, bc now they have more assets (and Cavs less assets), but Cavs have the ultimate "chip" in Wiggins.

but we also kind of paved the way for Love to go there too....

Love said he wouldn't resign there , but if they have Lebron he will

Let me get this straight: we get Zeller + a first rounder for essentially absorbing Thornton for a year.

I was skeptical that such type of deal may be worth it, but this is really a royal ransom for our TPE. Wow.

Expect a rondo trade.

We will be tanking. Boosting my rondo trade likeliness up to 51%

I agree that the potential "break up" of MIA is exciting, but I find this trade peculiar because of these teams previous ties (Cleveland now passed us in the KLove sweepstakes? Brooklyn just got better, and our draft pick from CLE is heavily dependent upon James going there/their future success?)

Seems weird for Danny to deal with the enemy. He must either be really confident, or think these GM's are really dumb.
