In watching Marcus Smart the last two years and then really looking at him these last few months I never have and don't see the rose or Westbrook comparisons. I don't see rose at all. I see how he attacks the hoop and how people can get carried away with that but Marcus doesn't possess that kind of explosion or athleticism.
I think wade is a stretch as well. Wade played much more above the rim then Marcus and his first step was more explosive. Hey wade, Russ, and rose are some of the best to ever do it and thinking Marcus will be that caliber is a lot to expect.
When I see Marcus I see a lot of tyreke Evans. He's more passionate and unselfish then tyreke however. Tyreke was a beast his rookie year and a great prospect. I doubt Marcus has that kind of coming out party but I think his ceiling is greater then Evans. Especially if he improves his shot.
If Marcus can make defenses stay honest with his shot then I think his ceiling is baron Davis when focused. Baron was right up there with the best of them when dialed in. He had the size, creativity, and basketball iq to take over games and series. Baron was ridiculed for his shot coming out of college and he got better. He was streaky but he kept defenses honest.
Marcus is hard working, humble, and driven. I think this kid can realize his potential and make a few all star teams along the way. Just improve the shot and keep the turnovers down.
