Have you ever been more excited for a draft?

Not since 2007, which was disappointing in that we didn't get a top pick.  Again.  I loved the result, though.  At this point, I'm more anxious/nervous than anything else haha.  I just want all of this to be over.  Thursday night cannot get here fast enough!

I know this is a deep draft, but I don't see the point in "trading down" for additionlal picks. I always prefer getting the better player than several of lower talent. Maybe there is another way to pick up a 2nd round pick, like in a trade.

One of the main reasons for trading down is because you can get the player you were targeting a few slots later and pick up an additional asset along the way.  The Celtics did that in 2011.  They were always going to select JaJuan Johnson, but they had the opportunity to trade down and pick up a second-round pick from the Nets.

It's an interesting idea in theory but was there ever a situation where it worked?

I think Dallas was interested in drafting a PG in 2013.  Once Burke, McCollum, and MCW went in a row, they were comfortable dropping down twice knowing that they would end up getting either Dennis Schroeder or Shane Larkin.

Usually, when you see a team willing to trade down a couple of spots, it means they were uninterested in the player who gets drafted at the higher spot or saw no difference between several players, at least one of whom would be available at the later slot.

I understand that it's most likely we just take someone #6, take some #17 ... and move on without any fireworks...

But the potential is outrageous.

Utah/Cavs potential trade?

Getting something for Green?

Smith to the Kings?

A Rondo trade?

Boston moving up for Embiid?

Saric falling?

Embiid falling?

Lakers making moves?

This has the potential to be an insane draft.  I can't wait to see what happens.

The better part of the Celtics future will be decided by Thursday.  I'm nervous and at thesame time, excited.  Getting Love would make my week, my month, and my year but I'll settle for picking Embiid at 6.  I got my fingers crossed and I wish my favorite team in the world (and a team that has given me so much), all the luck in the world.  Go C's!

I am supremely exciting. I seriously have zero idea what's gonna happen. All I do know is that I leave for Brooklyn early Thursday morning and I will be in the Barclay's Center when it all happens. I'll also be calling into clnsradio to give a live account of what I see and posting pics on my Twitter. I cannot even contain how excited I am to see this all go down.

Last year I had a huge Damien Woody for Kelly Olynyk for the two weeks leading up to the draft, and then my dream came true on draft night.

It will be hard to beat that, but having Embiid fall to 6, or the Celtics drafting both Gordon and Anderson, would come pretty close.

The last time I was this excited for a draft is when we picked up Pierce.  I will never forget the Mavs on the clock and I knew we were getting either Dirk or Paul.

Assuming the number is accurate, it actually says a lot more about who the sources are (after all, who's going to know that sort of specific length), and their relative reliability, than if they'd just said "over three hours."

Yeah, it sounds oddly specific.  If someone was actually close to the organization there's probably something that records the length of calls automatically, but that's not exactly the most likely scenario here.

I think people are confusing "draft lottery" with "draft".  The 1997 draft lottery was probably the most exciting, but I don't think the draft itself was as exciting as this years.

To answer the question, no I have definitely not been more excited for a draft.  If you combine the taste of recent winning (just 2 to 3 years ago), a very good draft pick in a loaded draft, 24/7 media coverage, blogs/forums, and the complete uncertainty of what any team will do... I'm basically going crazy lol.  I can't wait to watch the draft!

Truthfully, this year just feels different for some reason...maybe because with all the draft picks that we currently own that it might be the beginning of rebuilding another dynasty with a lot of great young talent in the next 2 - 5 years.

...or maybe it's because of all the draft picks we have, and our current younger guys, that will make a firework trade for a superstar or two for a quicker rebuild possible.

Either way, June has been...and still will be...fun!
