Yea I cant wait either!! Been waiting since last season really cause we all knew Celtics would be a lottery team..only question was what pick? Then after the draw, we got #6 pick and a lot of disappointed folks..but I, myself, is tired of waiting and not knowing lol
C/PF-Horford, Baynes, Noel, Theis, Morris,
SF/SG- Tatum, Brown, Hayward, Smart, Semi, Clark
PG- Irving, Rozier, Larkin

I'm very excited. Spent WAY too much time on Celticsblog and other sites this week already.

Love that we have 2 high first rounders . .. don't love that we have zero 2nd rounders. We need to pick 1 up. Maybe 2. This is by far the best second round I can ever recall. It seems every other player in the 2nd round mocks could be a solid role player in the NBA. Some have big upside too.

If Embiid doesn't fall to us, I hope we take Vonleh/Gordon or trade down a few spots and grab two 2nd rounders. It's a big draft for the retooling of the Celtics. Danny has a chance to really add some impact players for the future. Better not screw up Danny!

im probably more excited to get it over with than anything else.

Im just over all the rumors, the posturing, the mocks, trade proposals, and highlight videos.

But yes I am excited to see who we get.

I remember being unusually nervous and excited for the 2007 draft.
PHX Suns: Russell Westbrook, Chris Bosh, Tristan Thompson, Trevor Ariza, Tony Allen, Trey Lyles, Corey Brewer, Larry Nance Jr., Trey Burke, Troy Daniels, Joffrey Lauvergne, Justin Holiday, Mike Muscala, 14.6

2003 & 2007 are the only other years to come to mind.

2003 was also my senior year in college and just remembered being geared up about that draft because that 2002-2003 basketball season (both NCAA and high school with Lebron) was probably the most basketball I ever watched.   Knew a lot of the ins & outs of those guys plus it was just a ridiculously touted draft.  You knew you were watching the future faces of the NBA for the next 10-15 years so you wanted to see where these guys were gonna land.

2007 for obvious reasons.  Just so many things in play that offseason after the lottery failure.  You had no idea which direction Danny was gonna go.   Lots of drama that draft with the Celtics being in the very middle.

This draft is in the same neighborhood for me.    I think its talent rich like 2003 (although it'll be hard pressed to get there in the long run) but with the added intrigue of 2007 (since the Celtics are involved)

A USA soccer win plus a draft day trade for Kevin Love would make Thursday one of the most memorable sports days.

...And I'll be working in Target restocking bags of M&M's...

Getting something for Green?

I would like to see us try to move Green on in order to acquire a top 8 pick even if it costs us future 1st pick(s). It aint that inconceivable.
In Danny Ainge I Trust!

Very excited. I was really excited for the 2005 draft especially when Gerald Green fell to us. 2007 for obvious reasons thinking we'd end up with a top 2 pick then the suspense of what Danny would do. This reminds me much of the 2007 draft that we don't know what will happen.

Danny has kept his cards close to his chest right now and i am kinda scared and excited at the same time haha.

But i am off Thursday so i'll get to watch the USA hopefully advance and then the Celtics franchise change a little bit or a lot.

sadly yes
tim duncan was THE perfect celtic so i was pretty excited to finally have him on team
was a done deal in my mind  :'(

Duncan and Oden/Durant.
If ya'll went into the 97 DRAFT with expectations of Duncan with the 3rd pick... And went into the 2007 DRAFT with expectations of oden/durant with the 5th pick... Y'all probably deserved the disappointment.  ;)

I said draft... Not lotto drawing.  I've never been more excited for a draft.

Seems rather insipid to separate the hour out from the whole package.

A USA soccer win plus a draft day trade for Kevin Love would make Thursday one of the most memorable sports days.

I'll settle for a Portugal victory, I think.
Yeah I was pretty excited about those lotto drawings... but I'm saying... heading into the actual draft night, I've never been more excited.

I know this is a deep draft, but I don't see the point in "trading down" for additionlal picks. I always prefer getting the better player than several of lower talent. Maybe there is another way to pick up a 2nd round pick, like in a trade.

One of the main reasons for trading down is because you can get the player you were targeting a few slots later and pick up an additional asset along the way.  The Celtics did that in 2011.  They were always going to select JaJuan Johnson, but they had the opportunity to trade down and pick up a second-round pick from the Nets.

It's an interesting idea in theory but was there ever a situation where it worked?

A poster on RealGM had this to say:

Quote
3/3 Sources today confirmed there was a 193 minute conference call today between Danny/Rich Gotham and Flip/Rob Moor/Chris Wright

If you don't know who those people are, Google it.

More tomorrow.

Apparently, he's a reliable source.
