A sign-and-trade deal involving Josh Smith and Isaiah Thomas "may be in the works," according to Grantland.com.
Then who do we get for Rondo??? Mclemore and Stauskas?? Our backcourt is already crowded enough!

Mclemore and stauskas would not be enough, unless gay is involved

If not i would have to think the rondo to kings talks would end
Im sure they wouldnt be enough for Rondo, i was refering to the framework of the deal.. But either way, trading away gay isnt gonna convince rondo to resign there.. And if the rondo talks r coming to an end, whats the point in the kings wanting josh smith..

Lowe's just speculating, putting together rumblings that Monroe has asked for Smith to be moved before he'll resign and the pre-draft rumor about Smith to the Kings plus the Pistons' interest in Isaiah Thomas.
2025 Draft: Chicago Bulls

PG: Chauncey Billups/Deron Williams
SG: Kobe Bryant
SF: Jimmy Butler/Danny Granger
PF: Pau Gasol/Al Horford
C: Yao Ming/Tyson Chandler

Here's the full comment:

In a broader sense, the Pistons are doing interesting stuff. They’ve reportedly inquired about Isaiah Thomas, a bold move for a team that just locked up Brandon Jennings last summer. But Jennings was mostly bad, and creative front offices don’t just shrug and give up after allotting significant money to a guy at one position — especially when that contract only runs two more seasons.

Reading between the lines, a sign-and-trade involving Thomas and Josh Smith may be in the works, and multiple sources say Monroe’s camp has made it known Monroe will sign the one-year qualifying offer if Smith remains on the roster. Monroe’s camp denies that, and that kind of empty threat is not atypical from top restricted free agents. It’s really their only form of leverage.

The Meeks contract is a bit much, but Detroit is thinking creatively. Let’s see what it does next.

If there's a way to send both Smith and Jennings to Sacto for a S&T Thomas, McLemore (or Stauskas' rights), and salary ballast, I bet both teams would agree to the deal.

Terrifically exciting lineup for the Kings, and improved chemistry/roster balance for the Pistons.

Let's hope there is a three way trade with SAC , DET and BOS where the Celtics dump Rondo and pick up Monroe!

Smith and Rondo to SAC
Thomas to DET
Monroe to BOS

Add other players here and there to make it work.

Jennings, Gay, Smith and Cousins on the same team - a lot of questionable decision making for one starting line-up.

Sure. But I bet there would be some nights where they'd get up and down the floor like crazy and score 120 points.

If the Celtics wound up with Rudy Gay for Rajon Rondo, I'd shed a number of manly tears.

Detroit has no incentive to include Boston in this deal.

Detroit may have incentive to include Boston.  According to Hoopshype today, "...multiple sources say Monroe’s camp has made it known Monroe will sign the one-year qualifying offer if Smith remains on the roster."

So, it Sacto wants Rondo and Smith....Detroit wants Thomas...Boston wants Monroe...

As the original post said, add players, picks, to make it work.

By the way there are also rumors that Detroit has explored a possible trade of Monroe to NO for Ryan Anderson....maybe adding Olynyk would get it done?
