This Embiid situation changes everything. Now that we have a legit shot at him I can see Ainge reversing gears on acquiring Love, and look to deal Rondo instead. At the very least , he can pretend to want Embiid and push Sota to drop their high demands for Love

Yeah I have a feeling the "We will trade Rondo and Green and draft Embiid" is calling Sanders posturing wanting more, by saying "Well, if you don't want to play, we'll go an other route."

Worst case, we get Embiid.

Barring bad med news, Celts would love if Embiid available at 6. Coincidentally, franchise took Bird as jr eligible at same spot in '78.

Let me highlight for you why most of this tweet is inconsequential.

You think two stress fractures at the age of 20 qualify as anything but "bad med news"?! Who's the last NBA big man who suffered stress fracture in his foot and had a long and productive career?

I would say Big Z.

Trade Rondo to the Lakers for 7th pick and draft Smart, I'd be ecstatic.

Smart & Embiid would be a great duo if Embiid can recover.

I am a huge embiid fan but if we don't make a trade and draft a guy who might not make an impact this year, do we lose Rondo?

No, because Ainge could still get Asik with the TPE and another mid-level player with a future first and expiring contracts.  Just doing nothing but adding Asik and #17 is probably enough to make Boston a playoff team in the East.

I'd be ecstatic about Smart & Embiid as well.  I'm not sure Smart will be available.  There a few good looking point guards that will be available at 17, Napier, Ennis, and maybe Payton.  I like those three guys a lot better than the wings available at 17.

I just think we would have to roll the dice and take him at 6.
A winner is someone who recognizes his God-given talents, works his tail off to develop them into skills, and uses these skills to accomplish his goals.

Push yourself again and again. Don't give an inch until the final buzzer sounds.

Drafting Smart and Embiid would be a dream scenario I didn't think possible. If we have to stash Embiid for a year that's okay, hes young and can recover. We would be able to watch Smart go out there every night hustling and playing great defense.
You can't reason someone out of a position they didn't reason themselves into.

If you trade Rondo to the Lakers, take Gordon (unless Smart available which I doubt) and try to get Payton with the 17. Or you may have to package it with a future 1 to trade up and get him.  Lot's of options.

I still say the focus should be on whatever it takes to get Embiid, within reason.  I think we are going to work out a deal with ORL.

Bird didn't have a broken foot or bad back in 1978..stay away from Embiid unless C's want to tank again and wait on him like Philly did with Noel
C/PF-Horford, Baynes, Noel, Theis, Morris,
SF/SG- Tatum, Brown, Hayward, Smart, Semi, Clark
PG- Irving, Rozier, Larkin
