Say embiid is out a season... which teams have the luxury of patience?  I'd argue Boston is one of the few that can feel comfortable drafting Embiid and tanking another season.  We should trade up to secure his services.  They'd just need to trade Rondo at the draft for some youth, go full youth-movement next season...  and reevaluate our assets next summer.

Embiid has stress fracture in foot, Celtics still interested

http://www.csnne.com/blog/celtics-talk/embiid-has-stress-fracture-foot-celtics-still-interested
Article states we may look to move up to grab him.
Would Orlando, Philly or Utah take 6 and a future protected pick for 3-5?

Would Orlando take #6 and someone like KO or Sully for #4?  Probably not.  Remember, too, that the Sixers are all about Wiggins, so if Embiid slips, they'll definitely have to make a trade to get him now.  Perhaps we could get in on that deal.

I don't even think we'd necessarily have to trade up for him. Someone already posted a potential mock. Cleveland ntakes Parker, going after a guy that can contribute right away. Bucks pass with Wiggins still available. I think Philly takes Exum to pair with MCW with Wiggins gone. Orlando goes for Smart who they still like a lot. Utah already has a Center so they take Vonleh leaving him to us. I suppose some team could try to vault in with a trade but I'm not sure teams are gonna be eager to trade assets to move up to take a guy with a stress fracture in his foot. The question will we want him?

Orlando, Philly, and Utah all have the centers of their future in Vucevic, Noel, and Favors.  I would think all three would be interested in making a trade.  6 and 17 or a future protected first would be fair value.  The Celtics absolutely have to take the risk and trade for Embiid.  He could be a special player and would match up well with Sully and Olynyk.  Those three could form a great front court for a long time.

I think Kanter is the center in Utah and Favors is the power forward, but either way, both have disappointed.  Wasn't Favors, or his pick (I can't remember right now), part of the deal for Deron Williams?  How well did that work out for them, again?  The Jazz have drafted pretty well, so you'd have to believe that they won't pass on Embiid.  Even if you have your center for the future, it doesn't mean that they'll be better than Embiid, so that's why I don't think he'll make it to 6  :(  A frontcourt of those 3 would be fun, though, especially if Sully and KO keep improving.

But why would the Jazz take a risk on an center who has a bad back and is about to go into surgery? The Jazz are a small market team, they can't afford to miss on picks.

the way i see it now

1. Cavs - Wiggins
2. Bucks - Parker
3. 76ers - Exum
4. Magic - Smart
5. Jazz - Embiid/Gordon/Randle/Vonleh
6. Celtics - the leftover

If this is the case i can see the celtics having a super good chance to get embiid. Just flip the 17 and 23rd picks.

Greg Oden????

The difference will be that the Celtics would probably draft him at number six as opposed to number one.

And Embiid probably won't turn into an alcoholic this summer.

Favors is the power forward, but either way, both have disappointed.

13 PPG,  9 RPG and 1.5 BPG is not bad on big at all in 30 MPG.  He shot 52% from the floor.   He is 6-10 and 268 Lbs.  It is not all world but the guy is only 23 years old and I would not mind that kind of disappointment for one.

But he is on the block to move up I think if this is true.

I'm not saying that Favors is a bad player, it's just that he was expected to turn into a Chris Bosh type or some kind of all star when the deal was made (if I'm remembering it correctly), so from that standpoint he has disappointed.

Yeah, but why waste a pick on a guy who may not ever see the floor. From what I've read this isn't a thing that will go away. It's also, again from what I've heard on shows and read the same thing that Yao Ming had and ended his career. At least he got some NBA games in, Embiid hasn't even made it threw work outs.

He's not even going to NY, which means he's really falling. If he's there at 17, you pull the trigger. I'd rather take a guy like Gordan, or Smart at 6th if we are keeping the pick. They'll be more valuable even at bust than a guy who barely ever sees the floor.
