This is exactly the type of thing other GM's would put out there to make Milwaukee and Philly pass over him so he falls as far as possible.

Same thing with Randle's foot screw issue. Didn't the foot screw issue come out after his Celtics workout/check ups?

DA wouldn't put out false rumors about a player like Emiid to grab him at the 6th spot, thats not the celtics way. He wouldn't do anything that Red wouldn't do...  ;)

No one's taking Embiid without looking at his records.

CLE is capable of rejecting Embiid for conditions for which we and other teams wouldn't since Gilbert wants to win now to get in the playoffs. Embiid who is less NBA-ready than Parker or Wiggins has never been a slam dunk pick there even if his back was 100%.

I never bought into CLE being desperate to win now.  What is the rush?  It's not like they have a star on their team who is at his prime.  Like us with Pierce, and now with Rondo.  They are still very young.

What?  They absolutely have to win now, or be virtually guaranteed to lose Kyrie.  No team needs to make the playoffs next year more than Cleveland.

So Embiid's agent is Arn Tellem? Isn't he the guy who steered other teams away from picking Kobe? Is there a possibility that he's trying to spare Embiid the fate of being picked by Cleveland? Or, even possibly any team picking until they get all the way down to the Lakers again?

Why do I not even pause with any skepticism on reading that notion?

I'm becoming too cynical.   None of your notions seem all that farfetched.

NBA Officiating - Corrupt?  Incompetent?  Which is worse?  Does it matter?  It sucks.

And the plot thickens...There's no way that Embiid slips to us, but if he's there - TAKE HIM!  Of course, Danny won't.  Instead, he'll draft some guy we've never heard of who will undoubtedly be a bust, leaving the Lakers with the cornerstone of their next dynasty  >:(  I wish I was kidding.

Sounds like you're being paranoid. I think if he's red flagged, Embiid will undoubted slip, but not out of the top ten. There's still a good chance though he could go to the Celtics.

Don't believe the hype. Doesn't he get bigger contract if he stays? He's too young to care about winning now.

How do you know what's going on in his head?

If true, no way Cleveland should draft him. Winning the lottery and missing on last years #1 overall pick is bad but winning the lottery again and missing on this years #1 overall pick...well, that's just karma I guess.

Probably not in this case.  The difference in salary over four years between #1 and #7 is about $10 million.  It's one thing to force a player somewhere 1-2 spots later, especially a little later in the round when the salaries are a bit flatter, but he'd make about double going #1 vs #7.  Keep in mind with Kobe that:

A) The Lakers traded Vlade Divac near the prime of his career, and Vlade was no slouch.  It's not like Kobe fell far or anything.
B) Kobe was a high schooler.  Kobe and KG are what made teams willing to pick high schoolers earlier.  Before that, they weren't seen as smart top 10 picks.  (And now they're banned.)

If there is such a thing as karma, Embiid falls to us at number 6. Proving that we did not need the first pick all along to get our guy.

I hear you, except the quality of organization and scale of endorsement opportunities weighs heavily in favor of the Lakers over the Cavs.

And with the Celtics horrible luck .... Embiid would be a cripple for the rest of his days and be like Bowie .   A wasted pick ....while  Gordon and Vonleh become stars.

I can see it now .    It must b pretty bad news on Embiid for Cavs to even leak this out .

I think he goes from  possible #1.  To. Maybe #12

There are too many certain decent  players , to risk getting NOTHiNG at all.

Im sure this point has been made in this thread already but you have to take the risk on embiid if he falls to 6. And if he does that is exactly the chip you need to have an over the top offer for Love.

That being said, i dont think there is any way he falls that far. But if noel last year is any indication, maybe he can. I know the draft is deeper this year but embiid is a better prospect than noel.

Although not as great, the marketability of a Boston uniform over a Cleveland uniform is probably double or triple that lost 10 million.
