Triboy, that's one sided. There's little to no accountability for management if the NBA operated the way you think it should.
If a player signs a contract with a team who promises to build a contender around him and the team fails to do so, why should a player be forced to stay in that situation? And now you have a part owner/gm/coach throwing a player under the bus in the media and taking no responsibility for management's misteps.
Of the past few superstar moves (Lebron leaving Cleveland, Melo getting traded, CP3 getting traded, Dwightmare), only 2 were completely upfront with their respective teams about not wanting to return and they were the only 2 who reputation and popularity didn't take a massive hit.
Does basketball work like a special business or something?? Business is business
You sign a contract, you play it out. The Wolves were trying to get help for Love. They got Martin, signed Pekovic . They got a good bench. Maybe Love has to do more like Mitchell said to KG
A player signs a contract to perform. To earn the money they get paid. With such contract signed, where does it read that the team also has a responsibility to provide help ?? to build a contender? If they don't want to lose fans it's a given they have to, it's not something that they owe to the player
Love and his agent to me are not fulfilling their end of the bargain. A contract was signed, you don't have to take the players option, but you have to play. Love doesn't want to go through another possibility of missing the playoffs (7 years) but also is scared he can't command the money he thinks he deserves once he is a FA
I can complain about what he is doing. RJ87 you can defend him. Bottom line he signed a contract and he has to/should honor it.
So, if KLove becomes the good boyscout, honors his contract, and shuts up.......where does that leave Minny, eventually?
What plan do you believe that Flip has to make them more competitive? A playoff team?
Love honors his contract, the wolves Management can trade him. Thats the control they have
If they ask Love, are you going to stay and he says nothing but they still keep him and he leaves them, then they are the losers
Stop mixing the two or Love has to help Minny stay competitive. He just has to play out his contract and the Wolves can trade him
I think I see your point, Triboy.
But all that will do is just sell tickets in Minny...following your scenario, Love will put up another 26/13 and 4 season, make the All-star team again, and - unless perhaps DAL falters, finally get an 8th - maybe 7th - playoff spot.
And then lose in the 1st round.
Love will, under your scenario, then just confirm what he wanted all along - that Minny, while making the playoffs - has no firm plan to get better - or maybe they're just inept.
Under the scenario I just stated - maybe Flip is hoping that DAL falters, to justify his stand that KLove should honor his contract. At the end of the day that scenario will get Flip fired next summer, and KLove will still end up in BOS, with Dave Ortiz, and Rajon Rondo

.
Flip needs to examine this from all angles - not just his.
